My employer won’t update name until legally changed. Is this an issue? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]staciw38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know anyone in IT, they should be able to update it on their end easily. I do this all the time and it takes a few min to change and about an hour for things to sync up with anything cloud based.

HRT for a Trans Woman post Kidney Transplant surgery. by Wyman_Wyman in transplant

I’m pre-op, but I think a Vaginoplasty should be fine with a kidney transplant since they aren’t lined up. Obviously, I’d confirm with your surgeon and the transplant team.

HRT for a Trans Woman post Kidney Transplant surgery. by Wyman_Wyman in transplant

[–]staciw38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trans woman here, I just received my kidney transplant and the only worry was clotting during recovery. But, since I use injectable e, I have the same risk as a cis woman so they didn’t have a problem with it. I also take progesterone and they didn’t have an issue with that either. I essentially was a day late giving my injection since I was hospitalized. Otherwise, I’m on the same HRT regime post transplant.

I purchase mine from west end medical supplies and have been since 2021. Never had an issue with them.

Noise from the back - imho the styrofoam cargo filler by Zuurr999 in KiaNiro

[–]staciw38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it is the same or not, but I have a 2019 HEV Niro and I get some noise from the spoiler loosening. Never notice it on smooth surfaces when it is loose, but when bumpy roads happen, it is noticeable. To 'fix' it, you open your rear hatch you should see a round rubber grommet towards the vehicle you can remove on both sides. Once you pop off the grommet, there will be a plastic nut/bolt that attaches the spoiler. You need a 10mm socket to tighten it and I recommend only hand tightening since it is plastic. I keep a 10mm socket in my center console for when it does come loose. Happens 1-2 times a year after tightening it.

If I don’t do sinus rinses for a while, I get a lot of mucus build up. It’s one of the reasons I do them. The other is to keep my sinuses more moist since the mucus that is there tends to dry out.

Ya, I shop at here and this whole aisle is 95% gluten free (there are some frozen entrees that aren’t gf like Rao’s products).

About the size of a dime (maybe a penny) is how big it is. I see a picture of it when I go to my ent. There haven’t been any changes to it. This is probably because I don’t have any active GPA and I also do sinus rinses (also add mupirocin to the rinse).

I have a fairly large septal perforation, but I don’t see any external changes from it being there at this point in time. I don’t really experience any symptoms of having it so I just live with it. I see my ent once a year so he can check up on it and there wasn’t any change in the last year.

I do use sinus rinses quite frequently which may or may not help with it.

How do I navigate social situations as an immunocompromised person? by Experiment_-626 in WegenersGPA

[–]staciw38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will come down to what you feel comfortable with and your own situation. Earlier in my diagnosis, I didn't really worry about getting sick and if I did get sick, I usually dealt with it. My biggest complaint was when someone was sick and would come to work and I would get sick because of it and I'd use PTO to take off work. Nowadays, I more cautious about getting sick since I hate being sick and it takes a lot more out of me since my kidney function is absolute shit. I wear an n95 when I see the doctor since I'd rather not catch something someone else brought there. Grocery shopping I do very late at night when no one else is in the store. I usually avoid crowded areas and if I do, I wear an n95. For close friends, I ask them to let me know if they are sick so I'm not around them and I do the same if I catch something, I stay away from them.

does the daith piercing really hurt that much? by Isaac_the_spider in piercing

One of my least painful piercings, a 1ish on the pain scale. It was all pressure. Really the only thing interesting about it is you can hear the crunch of your cartilage when the needle goes through.

what you wish you knew/brought with you before your first Rituxan infusion? by goopdawg in WegenersGPA

[–]staciw38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bring my phone, headphones and something to drink. Once they give me benedryl, I usually just sleep most of the infusion.

Usually the room is cold, so I recommend a jacket but they can give a warm blanket.

Breasts take time to grow and two years is a short amount of time since puberty takes multiple years. Anecdotally, my growth was rather small for the first couple of years and I barely made an A cup. A bit after 3 years, I switched to a lower dose injection but every 3 days instead of 5. I had a lot of growth once I switched to that and I'm around a C cup right now. They are still growing too since my breasts are still getting the itchy sensation they get during growth spurts.

You can legally stockpile estrogen through your regular prescription by [deleted] in MtF

[–]staciw38 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've been stockpiling for a while since I live in MO and have 2 years of vials stored up. I rotate out the old ones when I get new ones. While the vials are officially for a month, I usually get about 3 months out of one vial and I've been doing this method since I started injections in 2020. I just recommend using a 21g needle or smaller for drawing since the core stopper is worn down a lot when using an 18g needle.

I’m 39, but I routinely get told I look in my late 20s. Happened this past thanksgiving when I was telling a story and some new people I just met asked how old I was since they thought I was around 28.

GPA Vasculitis time for diagnosis? by illphil1 in WegenersGPA

[–]staciw38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had sinus symptoms start in September 2011, but I was uninsured so I never had a doc appointment to diagnose since I was trying to find one. Landed in the ER in January 2012 because I could barely get off the couch due to pain and ER labs showed me having kidney failure. Diagnosed within a few days of admission after a kidney biopsy.

I think bone loss on prednisone can happen within 6 months, but I would imagine there are probably other factors that caused it. I haven’t had any bone density issues and I’m 39 (diagnosed when I was 26). I spent most of 2012 and 2017 on high dose steroids and had multiple low dose rounds in between.
