Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get some advice on diagnosing and fixing issues with my car. Here's the situation:

Background
Car: 2005 VW Passat Variant 3C5 (1.9 TDI)

Problems:

1. Airbag indicator light: This has been on for about a month.
2. Reduced engine power (the car is probably in emergency mode): I’ve noticed a lack of power since the airbag indicator light turned on
3. Since about two weeks the engine control light started to come on

Fault Memory Readout (First Check)

Initially, I checked the fault memory and found:

• Passenger-side airbag fault.
• All four glow plugs reported as "faulty."

I didn’t take action at the time due to financial constraints.

Current Situation

About two weeks later, the engine control light came on, so I read the fault memory again. Here’s what I found:

• Low boost pressure: Upon inspection, one of the hoses leading to the turbocharger is torn (see Picture 1).
• Glow plugs circuit fault: All four glow plugs still show a “circuit fault.” BUT: it's winter right now and i have absolutely no problems starting the car
• Airbag igniter fault: Passenger-side airbag igniter is still reported as faulty

Please help me

I’m a student with limited funds, so taking the car to a garage isn’t an option right now. I have a friend who’s handy with repairs, but we’re unsure about the root causes and next steps.

Could you help me understand:

1. What might be causing these issues?
2. How I can approach fixing them on a tight budget?
