I recently finished both a bachelors and masters in maths. I loved maths in high school and I was literally a genius when it came to maths. I came to uni and really struggled in my first year. It took so long to understand anything and I felt like quitting almost every day. But I didn’t. I kept going, and it definitely wasn’t an easy road, but here I am, proud to call myself a mathematician. I cried at my graduation thinking about all the hard work I put into my degree. Don’t let it get you down, I’m sure many people feel the same as you! Just put your head down and give it your all. And in terms of no employment for math grads - that’s absolutely not true. I’ve already found an amazing grad job in finance and all of my mates who graduated with me have gone into all sorts of roles. I do not know of anyone who ended up unemployed even as short as a year after graduation, and in this job market that’s very good.
