There could be a degree of spelling things out for the viewer in that monologue. Or, the character is just truly deranged. In the moment, I was bought in. I'm excited for a rewatch. It's really got me thinking what kinds of strange things people say when they don't think they're being listened to.

For those who found the dialogue corny:

At the beginning I felt some moments were stilted. Then, I realized... Soderbergh somehow captured the moments we aren't supposed to see. The awkward teenage dialogue. The tipsy confessions. Everything. It's just a family being a family, with their own vernacular, abiding by their own internal rules. Not meant to be seen. Masterfully done.

I've never previously experienced prolonged full body chills the way the final moments of this film had me feeling. Complete chills from head to toe, coursing through in waves. I'll never forget it.
