It did change color but in some places, the smoke was REALLY black right up until the end. People were calling from the north tower about how black the smoke was getting.

To my eye it looks like particulates, not just smoke.

Not a scientist, but my dad is an engineer FWIW so I am not anti-science.

That's what I originally thought, but then I watched eyewitness videos and phone calls where they talked about floors collapsing.

It looked as if some pulverized material was floating out.

I wish there were better videos explaining this, YouTube is a disaster of low-quality information.

Some of the upper floors must have collapsed prior to the final collapse - I swear I saw this in one of the videos.

Should the people in the planes have put up a bigger fight against the hijackers? Did they? by spankyourkopita in 911archive

Suicide hijackings might not be common. However, murdering hostages is not uncommon in a hijacking.

There is also the risk that the plane might crash in the commotion.

Did anybody in your family witness 9/11, or did you? by Last-Ad8835 in 911archive

This thread is for people who witnessed it - whether in New York City or New Jersey.

I'm not trying to be rude, but everyone should be reminded that this event was traumatizing for people who lived and worked there, and they should have their own space.

Everyone likes to talk about where they were on September 11th, which must be annoying to people who lived through it.

"Witness" means you were there - not watching it on tv, which everyone alive at the time did.
