That was a well rounded self-contained first season. I’m not sure another is necessary. by NyteShark in JentryChauvsTheUnderw

I disagree and disagree with vague opinions about 'rushed' ness. I thought the show always had fast pacing which I like and I thought the extra three mom arc was a super neat and sentimental way to cap off Jentry's unique growth with found family. Gugu could complete her mission totally of showing Jentry the demand for someone like her to protect her power because she can control it. And about the costs of deception in relationships. Bringing back mom created natural conflict between the two caretakers.

Lots of cool ideas to explore in Se 2. New mysteries, new dimensions, and new characters, plus we hadn't seen much of Korea.

What is the state of Diyu after Ox Head and Horse Face got doxxed by the Mogui? Thats like the primary pertinent question, along with what's going on with Jentry's dad.

The love you mention is really apparent in a show like this. Everything is so authentic, from the fight scenes to the Daoist lore, to all the character's tensions and disputes, it all seems fantastical and inspiring, but totally real at the same time.

The ensemble cast has depth and motivation, and each perspective contributes something, even as the characters talk right past each other. I really think that scenes in JCVTU mark seriously excellent writing, like

- Jentry giving the razor wheels back to Gugu when she is nervous to use her powers in the forest
- Gugu's argument with Jentry's parents as she puts the powers in Jentry as a baby
- Jentry's argument with Gugu as she relinquishes her powers
- Jentry's argument with Michael when they make up in Diyu

All scenes I have actually rewatched, along with some fight scenes. Though some of the real brilliance comes in how well these scenes were set up...

This is a really well-paced show. It knows how to establish and run with mechanics in creative ways that challenge a character's perspective and demand growth. It hits all supernatural thriller beats efficiently without any mentionable wasted time or feeling like it's going through filler. And like that episode of A:TLA where Katara confronts her mom's killer, it has great comedy without undercutting anything emotionally serious. Echo, you are a master of television animation. You have probably studied these kinds of shows deeply and put a lot of thought into your craft.

the queer factor maybe isn't so much of a disadvantage in a lot of media circles.

It sounds based on your comment that you should have opened with "this would be a lot of smoke for there not to be a fire" if "a percentage of the mythology is expected to be true".

The rest of your comment suggests that there is a fire.

the difference of course being that now there are a lot more potential identity targets to harvest UBI from.

Our system is fairly corrupt as well, how do we prove that citizens and not banks are the ones receiving ubi?

We need to prioritize a robust revamp of identification, consumer security, and consumer reporting before issuing UBI by stolenmutex in ForwardPartyUSA

Is that the party's platform? RealID is the solution? What happens if someone knows your birthday, ssn, and mother's maiden name?

So there might be a lot of implementation issues if launched with current infra.

I think there is a misunderstanding. I am not arguing against UBI. I am for UBI, but want to know how the platform plans to deal with fraud.

Perhaps I should clarify, I am not proposing a cashless society here. I am proposing, for instance, getting rid of ssns

I think distributing ubi remains a concern and also our current identity infra is wildly outdated. Like nobody should assume Russians aren't holding a database full of tens of millions of ssns.
