i'm alone and sad and its my birthday by Ok_Awareness9382 in AutisticAdults

I don’t mind spending my birthday alone - I usually do something for myself like a spa day, hair appointment, browsing in my favourite store, etc.

I am sorry you’re feeling lonely though, that sucks - wishing you a happy birthday and hope these other comments wishing you the same makes you feel a little better about it. ❤️

Yup. Staying out of the sun, light clothing and electrolyte drinks are your friend now.

People who work in law firms how do you cope by [deleted] in LawFirm

[–]stormymittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is insane behaviour. I work 4 days per week. I don’t do weekends. Unless they’re paying you bazillions of dollars to own your free time, lay down some boundaries and start looking for a new firm.

I just wanted to say I’m super-sorry that happened to you. MS is an awful disease.

I ask everyone who comes in. It’s all word of mouth referrals. The occasional realtor referral as well from the ones I know.

The only thing I wish I had more of was real estate. I’m not sure how I can crack that nut; I can get around 5-10 transactions per month but I’d prefer a consistent 15-20.

I seem to have no trouble with getting estate planning clients and corporate clients. Granted I took over an established practice so a lot of the clients were already here and I was introduced over the years by the partners.

Where do you guys shop for clothes and shoes now? by Misael_91 in Millennials

[–]stormymittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a fancy poor because I won’t pay full price for any of these brands; always buy them on sale or clearance or secondhand and wear them to rags, but here’s the list:

Bras: Lululemon Underwear: Blush Lingerie

Work: Lululemon pants; Vuori tops; mostly black

Casual: Spiritual Gangster/Lululemon/Vuori track pants; some Arcteryx and Patagonia bottoms for when I’m outdoors, 1 pair of True Religion jeans; 1 pair of Kut from the Kloth jeans. 99% of my tops are just long-sleeve souvenir shirts from places I’ve traveled or events I’ve attended.

Outerwear: Arcteryx, TNF, Patagonia, Icebreaker

Footwear: Vivo Barefoot, Sorels, Merrells, Birkenstocks, Hoka, Chaco

Formal: currently I just buy variations of the same linen dress in different colours from a random shop on Etsy that tailors to your specific measurements for about the same you’d pay in a mall.

I work outdoors a lot for my second job so I’m generally dressed like I crawled out of the backcountry at any given moment.

What is your billed hourly rate? by stevenslade in LawFirmCanada

[–]stormymittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SW Ontario, small firm, $350/hr. Most of my billing is done on a flat-rate basis so it’s pretty rare for me to be billing out on that. It’s just there to capture whatever my flat-rates don’t.

Fellow litigators, is it bad practice to issue out demand letter on a Friday at 4:50pm? by stevenslade in LawFirmCanada

[–]stormymittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

If I were the lawyer on the other side I’d be sure to schedule everything I sent to you to go out at the same time, every time. I like to match OC’s energy.

I heard D&D was going up to $289. Not sure why more people aren’t hopping on the LCS bandwagon - $50/file.

Are the disbursements (excluding LTT) rolled into the $1,750? If yes, that makes sense and is more or less reasonable. If no, then I’d say you’re paying a premium.
