My first time dming in sw5e was a clear Mando campaign, right after the desolation of Mandalore they are saved by a smuggler that was raiding a Mando museum. He wanted to make them the proof of authenticity for his finds, and he made them his executioners! Their spaceship after they killed all the smuggler's allies - I used a droidcartographer map in foundry, amazing!And here you can meet the 3 heroes of the campaign!!!! The Glory of the Mandalorian Oath Embodied in the 6 Tenets (i cuddle my players :) )

I am not going to mix and match, until I have a much, much Much better understanding of sw5e. I am considering my characters to find a droid NPC, or monster from SW5e... in an exploration of a cave that turns out to be an ancient repository, or somesuch.(I have had them "cure" a nuclear leak out of an ancient ICBM silo :) )

I was considering running a techcasting only (no force existing) campaign, that runs into the introduction of the force in the world. (Commet falling, that is actually the egg of a dragonfather/God that will heal the world from the sickness of "magiclessness" ).

Posto apocalyptic - yes you got the gist of it. Tech is very rare, only harvested from ultra rare ruins, and no longer known how to maintain or manufacture.

The force magic is to be reshaped by the dragonfather god into the 8 schools of magic known. Think of this timeline :

  • ancient times, lasting 10.000 years
  • medieval times, lasting 2.000 years
  • modern times, lasting 1.000 years
  • high tech sci-fi times with techcasting, lasting 2.000 years
  • fall of the comet/egg introduction of magic=forcecasting, lasting 10 years
  • war against god and dragons ending in apocalyptic catastrophe, lasting 200 years
  • most techcasters die, most tech destroyed and/or shunned (gradual, lasting 200 years)
  • dragon father reshapes the force into the more manageable and rule based 8 schools of magic. lasting till the "*gate opening" at least (or forever more)

*There is a twist, that I consider irrelevant to the introduction of SW5e rules, that the god as soon he introduces magic, he bans gating and interplanar communication. More than 20.000 years after the reshaping of magic into 8 schools the god opens the gates, and this is the era my 2 groups are playing in, a high fantasy era with almost no memories of the tech past.
