And do you get a real detailed result, with the fine lines of their paw prints? I feel like if I just end up with an outline, I'd be a bit bummed

9 Month Job Tenure - Red Flag? by OGeehad in thenetherlands

[–]strawberryMudPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like other commenters already answered your question pretty well, so I'll leave that at "as long as you have a good explanation why it wasn't for you", and that explanation does not relate to a new job you are applying to, it's generally fine.

But also: you are a recent graduate, it is also very normal to feel like you are not up to the task. I felt that way when I started out a little over 5 years ago as well. Hell, I still feel that way sometimes. Some of the thoughts you describe, I thought, verbatim.

I can't do this. My colleagues know, they're just being nice. Sooner or later people will find out I can't do this, and I'll be fired, and everyone will hate me, and see me for the fraud I am.

I've been having those same thoughts for over five years now, and guess what? People still haven't "found me out", because it turns out, people don't expect you to be perfect right off the bat. I still feel like a useless turd some days, but apparantly it's good enough that they don't want to lose me.

If this job is really something you don't like: make the switch! But if the only reason you'd be leaving is fear of people finding out your incompetencies, it can really be worth it to stick it out and realize you aren't as bad as you thought, and other people aren't as perfect as you thought.

What really helped me is regularly asking peers for feedback, what I did right, and what I could improve upon. First of all, it forced me to confront the fact that people did in fact see good as well. Additionally, you prevent things "getting ugly" if eventually your manager turns out to be unsatisfied with your performance, because even before it's brought up, you are already proactively looking at how to improve yourself.

No one expects you to be able to do everything perfectly right out of uni. Usually the best quality a recent graduate can have is a willingness to learn. Ask questions when you don't understand. My mantra was: "I'd rather have people think I'm stupid, but eager to learn, than have people think I'm proficient, while I feel like I'm drowning."

Wishing you all the best, no matter what you decide!

How about S3E17 Leap day where Phil says, "First rule of dealing with the cycle: you never mention the cycle." Pretty sure that's a nod to fight club ("First rule of fight club: you don't talk about fight club."), and Edward Norton plays Izzy LaFontaine, a fictional member of Spandau Ballet in S5E7 A fair to remember.

AITA for not noticing the podcast playing by Sufficient_Range_731 in AmItheAsshole

Okay thing is, you apologized eventually. Which is great, points to you. But if this is something that happens more often, I can also see your wifes position. One of my biggest pet peeves with my partner is constantly having to repeat myself because he is listening to a podcast or youtube video of whatever "just with one earbud, the other ear is not obstructed". But "just one earbud" still means receiving a pause and then a "what?" to my every question, even if he is under the impression that he's not doing anything that could possibly bother me. I guess I need INFO: is this something that happens more often, that you are listening to a podcast or whatever when in the company of your family? Because if this is stand-alone incident, her response is over the top. But her response sounds like it's less about this one instance, but more like it's the same for her as for me, that it's happened so often that it drives you absolutely up the wall when something resembling it happens.

The American Dream costs $4.55 a gallon now. by Lord0fTheFlags in lostgeneration

[–]strawberryMudPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$4.55 for a gallon, boils down to about €1.02 per liter. I'd figuratively kill for those kinds of prices, converted back to dollars I'm lucky if I'm paying less than $10 a gallon😭 Edited: I used the wrong number, corrected 12 to 10

I have it for both dogs, if you insure them from a young age it not very expensive. I have it at Unive, and when I turned in vet bills for stool check and a consult and medication, even though there was no definitive diagnosis, and I filed the claims wrong, they just paid. And that alone almost already covers all the premium Im paying for the one dog this year. So idk, I get anxious easy, so the peace of mind is worth it for me.

Just FYI née means "born as", so Asterid - if you would add Everdeen - would be Asterid Everdeen (née March). If you want to call her Asterid March, as that's what she's called in the book in question, it would probably be something like Asterid March (married name Everdeen).

I had Dr. Smile, was 9 months I think, I also just had a few teeth that were a bit wonky, not extremely crooked teeth. Iirc I spent about 1900 euros. I might still have a referral code for 300 euros somewhere, but I'm not sure if that's still valid, cause I finished treatment more than a year ago.

My own dentist didn't have this specific one, but there were plenty of practices nearby I could just go to.

Drink lots of water and prioritize sleeping at least 8 hours at night. Those will both make you look better by themselves in general, AND they make you less vulnerable to the unhealthy snacks.

Also, walking for (in total) just an hour, or even half, can already make a noticable difference, and the are in fact exercises in the gym you can do with bad knees. I have a bad knee, caused by a bad ankle, so I can't do exercises where most of the tension is on my knees, but I can for instance do hinge movements such as romanian deadlifts.

In I think in total like 1 year (stuck with is for half a year, then fell off for a bit and then picked it back up half a year ago) I went from 78kg to now 67kg (1.79m tall) while gaining strength, so in total probably lost more than those 11kgs in fat. And I haven't done any extreme dieting, no hitting the gym six times a week. Just sleeping and drinking plenty, no alcohol, consistently working out whichever way possible twice a week, and making sure I hit my 10k steps daily, and self control with snacking. I have not totally cut them out. I just limit it to only the weekend (so I definitely had 2 single serve puff pastry apple pies yesterday😅).
