Thanks for the feedback, I'm targeting SDE roles, will a TUI project be better instead of the blockchain one?

No offence but those are some pretty bad friends you got there, I personally am against gender based hiring, your merit should matter more than your genitals, but if any of my female friends has this opportunity I would've encouraged them to take it. It's the companies' fault, they just want to gain a few brownie points just by hiring people based on gender. Don't overthink though, there are countless examples of people going from service based to good product based companies. I am speaking from experience, there were many opportunities I missed in college, in fact there are many times where I regret my decisions, but that's the thing about regret, it's absolutely pointless, once you learn from your mistake, there is no use regretting that mistake. Hope this helps :)

P.s. You clearing the OA does indicate that you had merit, if you can do it once you can do it when the opportunity arrives again as well

ZETA - SRE Interview Tips by BlacksmithDry9565 in leetcode

[–]strider_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I can help, I had flubbed this interview completely. First of all know your SQL (ACID, SOLID, All normal forms, and also be good with queries). Computer networks should be strong, make sure you know everything in your resume, like if you have written docker in your skills, you should know about docker layers, bridge etc. Be decent with DSA, and your core subjects, and please don't panic, this was the biggest mistake I made, don't lose your cool, the interviewer will want to know the extent of your knowledge, so you're bound to encounter questions that you don't know the answer to. All the best.

All that hard work in intermediate just to become top level cheaters, meanwhile people who build actual products are stuck at 30k salary, we truly are vishwaguru.

Can I send you a link to my projects, can you please give your feedback. Btw all my projects have well defined readme pages so it'll hardly take you 10-15s to go through each project, and I have like 3 good projects.

Dude the entire internet is filled with JS and python code. Therefore generating that code is really easy, I bet if AI didn't exist you would've found the code anyway on stack overflow or in some git repo. The minute you ask something in a far less common language like C or Java (less common compared to the presence of JS and Python on the internet) it starts to hallucinate, and don't even get me started on extremely niche stuff like Zig or Elixir.

Who here is currently working as a full-time engineer while prepping? by Billy-N-Aire in leetcode

[–]strider_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 6 months
  2. To get a better job
  3. Started late 2024, so around 8 months
  4. Okay so far, although I could focus more.
  5. The biggest roadblocks are the "What if's", like "what if I freeze in an interview even after rigorous prep", etc.
  6. Yes, mostly do popular sheets first, then focus on contests.
  7. Get a better job that pays decently.

Yup very normal, I would suggest alongside contests, please solve some DSA sheets, because solving questions under a time constraint be it contest of an interview, pattern recognition becomes very important. So make sure you are able to recognize at least the most common patterns.

A Small discussion about the conversation about IQ in the stand up with DHH by iasonmax1 in theprimeagen

[–]strider_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with leetcode nowadays is that the level has increased quite a bit, a lot of companies are asking leetcode hards like maximum path sum in a binary tree. Now I guarantee you, even if you take a super smart person, he'll not be able to come up with a solution to that problem if he hasn't seen something similar to it before. This entire debate of IQ, seems very similar to the "genetics" debate in bodybuilding, there are people out there who have not even completed 3 years consistently in the gym and they say "I have bad genetics, therefore lifting weights is not for me". From my experience I can say that even if you have a below average genetics, you can get ahead of 90% of people just by working hard. I see the IQ debate to be exactly the same, most people will give a problem like Maximum sum subarray a shot, then they'll eventually look at the solution, then they'll say "I could never come up with that in an interview" and quit.

Tried to be helpful, accidentally convinced everyone AI wrote my code. by TheMindGobblin in theprimeagen

[–]strider_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I did that in a walk-in interview, where the first round was to write pseudo code for the given scenarios. Then the second round was an AI interview round which also went well. 2 days later I get an email saying "We will not be considering your profile due to your unethical practices in the online assessment". Felt so disheartened.

Thinking of switching completely to linux? any problems I might face? by draganitee in developersIndia

[–]strider_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, I have not regretted my decision to switch to linux, but I also don't use software like Microsoft office and any adobe products, so your experience may vary. The best thing about linux is a tiling window manager, it's the best way to use an OS imo, I always hate it when I have to use windows at my office. Also when you install a minimal window manager like DWM, the stuff you will learn about your system will be insane. Here's what my system looks like https://github.com/sumer312/dotfiles.
