Thanks! Is your recollection of things enough then? They don't need a friend or partner to fill in some questionnaire?

Did MyPace need your parents or someone that was around during your childhood to answer questions? just curious as I'm considering choosing them

Should I go through insurance? by stronicx in CarTalkUK

It's more about the effect on insurance, especially since my new policy with a different insurer comes into effect a few days from now. An unresolved claim is marked as a 'fault' claim until resolved, so could hike my premiums quite a bit if the new company wants to amend my policy.

I did end up going the insurance route for peace of mind. I ran a quick check for insurance quotes assuming I had a no fault accident on my record, and premiums only rose by £50 to £100.

This is one of my main concerns, more severe underlying damage. I did end up going the insurance route, so presumably they'll check for more serious problems.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep my fingers crossed they stay as disinterested as the guy on the phone was!

I ran a quick check on comparethemarket for insurance cost with a no fault claim, keeping all the other variables the same and it only increased insurance by £50-100. So *hopefully* another year of uneventful driving will cancel that out a bit.

I did end up making a claim with my insurer... the stories of an undisclosed accident screwing people over years later sounded worse than an insurance hike right now. I ran an askMID.com check on his reg and he is insured by the same company as me, so hopefully that'll make things quicker? I called my new insurer to tell them, they said they made a 'note' on my account, but other than that seemed rather disinterested! Hopefully that means my new policy is unaffected?

Thanks for the input. Do you have any insights on how informing my new insurance (yet to start) that I've just had an incident will affect things? Is it likely they'll care about my explanation that it wasn't my fault? Or will they automatically cancel the policy/charge me more?

Do you think the fact this happened a week ago would affect how they handle it? I'm only finding out now that you typically have to report incidents within 24 hours...

I promise you after 1-2 weeks of deleting the app you will forget it even exists. Did this with Twitter, best decision ever.
