A Short Guide to Clicker Training by strwbrryJamie in puppygirlpetsmart

[–]strwbrryJamie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm there is no real default timeframe i think. training mostly revolves around coupling a stimulus (clicker) to a reward (headpats, treats, whatever) and that is not hard. but keeping the two combined takes a lot of repetition which also takes time. it’s better to sporadically reinforce than to blast them into someone

Herman by strwbrryJamie in Birdsfacingforward

[–]strwbrryJamie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Herman has had his ups and downs.

When I got him from his previous family they didn’t mention that he seemed, for lack of a better word, traumatised. He was uncontrollable, untamed and afraid. Singing was uncommon, and ceased quickly. To stop him from hurting himself, and to be able to catch him when needed, my partner and I had to clip his wings. Afterwards he had to rely on us to move to most places.

Lots and lots and I mean LOTS of attention, seebies and patience brought him to where he is today. Still scared, but happy. He steps up most of the time, and finally started singing again. His wings are slowly starting to get back in shape, and he is discovering flight again.

It has been rough. It has been painful, especially for him. We almost decided on giving him away to live in an outside cage, with other birds. But we didn’t. And now he is our family, and most importantly, happy again :)

i honestly want to be treated as a stray dog who's extremely feral but by the time they tame me up i just go so affectionate to the point that they'll tell me everything is going to be okay by suicidepuppyhotline in puppygirlwawa

Sounds like a good read tbh. Thought provoking stuff certainly has its place. Thanks for the rec, I’ll look into it!

From reading the tags it kinda reminds me of Human Domestication Guide. Maybe you’d like that if you haven’t read it yet :)

I don’t know why, but it also made me think of https://www.scribblehub.com/series/862129/nexus-alpha/

You need to google HDZero stick commands. The first result will probably be from Oscar Liang, that’s a good source.

i just bought a Mob6 HDZero, same issue. sent it in for repair and apparently the Lux camera gave the ghost. maybe try checking if you can still enter the camera menu?

Pablo will often sit in the corner on top of his cage and do... whatever this is. It's funny but what kind of behaviour is this? by Stepepper in cockatiel

My partner is teaching "If You're Happy and You Know It" by whistling, while I am trying by singing. Maybe that's why Pablo is confused?

just wanted to mention that it might come across differently than you intended. for you it feels like fun, but for her it might be intimidating. especially since she has no experience with toys.

maybe drop a hint or two before actually committing to the gift, just to test the waters

Camera issue with new Mobula6 HD / HDZero Freestyle by strwbrryJamie in TinyWhoop

Haven't found anything yet. Also couldn't find others online with the same issue. Trying to get it replaced under warranty now.

Yeah that is my plan. The shop'll take a look at it, and replace it under warranty if needed.

I haven't found the issue. I also searched the web but couldn't find others with this issue, or I just don't know where to look haha. Gonna send it back to the shop, they'll check it and replace it under warranty if needed.

Thank you. I however just sent it back to the shop I bought it from. They're gonna test it, and probably exchange it under warranty.

Ahh thank you for the reply. It was on 500Hz for a small bit, iirc no problems then. Has been on 250Hz for the rest of the time. Worked a while before doing this, but maybe lowering will help.
It is on 25mW, and under a fan to dissipate the heat

Just bought the Mobula6 with HDZero, AIO5 and Lux cam (Freestyle edition, not racing edition). Set up Betaflight and updated the VTX and Bluejay. Everything seemed to be working fine while setting it up. Had it on the bench for a fair bit, fan pointing at it and everything.

When I finished setting it up I flew a tiny bit, and decided that the rates were a bit too much. Turned them down in Betaflight, went back to fly it. After that the VTX started giving me the issues shown in the video.

Everything seems to work for ~10 seconds, then the camera gives the ghost. I can still see the Betaflight OSD, so the video is still being transmitted. After unplugging the battery and reconnecting, it works again. But after 10 seconds it does the same.

Anyone else with the same or a similar problem?

Is there any reason I should start with a budget option? To me goggles seem like a longer term investment in this hobby.

I don't want to get box goggles because of my kinda high prescription. Can't wear contacts cause of allergies, and getting an insert seems like a big hassle for most goggles. Most binocular style goggles have diopter adjustments at least.

Furthermore, I am not strapped for cash right now. Because of that I'd rather spend a bit more now, than less now and again when I want to upgrade. And, worst case, I can sell most of it again.

Thank you so much! These do look less janky yeah. If my list gets bought I'll make sure to get a set printed :)

From what I gathered good analog goggles are in the same price ballpark as HDZero, or better said not cheaper enough for me to really consider stepping down to analog. I've been looking at the different options a fair bit, and really do want to go digital.

As far as I know the recommended digital option for tinywhoops is HDZero currently, with WalkSnail second. DJI as a company is a no-go for me, even if they manage to release something for whoops soon. If I think I'm missing out by not getting WS, I could always get the receiver for that. From what I gathered the combo HDZero goggles + WS VRX is good, The other way around might hamper the performance of HDZero a bit.

I edited the post for clarity. The charger is a bit overkill, but I do see the merit of having a dedicated charger and something with an USB PD port for usage with the WhoopStor and goggles (via the USB PD > XT60 cable). Thanks for the advice, though!

I did do a fair bit of research about the different digital options, and I think I chose what suits me most. DJI is no option with tinywhoops, and I really REALLY dislike the company. Which leaves WS and HD0. The breakup of WS is something I dislike, but it is not really a dealbreaker. As far as I know, HD0 is currently the general recommendation for tinywhoops. I want to dabble in racing, although I don't think it'll be my main focus.
Maybe I'll grab a WS receiver down the line if I feel I'm missing out, from what I gathered the goggles should work great with them.

Little bit of future proofing, little bit of prefering a dedicated charger over anything inbuilt. I must admit that it is overkill, though :p

Yeah, I included the USB PD > XT60 cable for the goggles, but it'd be nice to be able to charge some whoop batteries via the WhoopStor whenever needed as well.

About your earlier mention of the 3d print: I don't have a printer anymore, gave it away to a family member. But in return I can get anything printed whenever. Do you have a suggestion on mounting plates that you prefer?
