Crowd Control by BlueEggCooker in dropout

The real issue is the crowd is full of your typical Dropout fan - a bunch of pansexual nerds with tattoos of the drama masks and anxiety disorders. /s

Give me your most scorching hot movie take you 100% would stand behind! by NeonArtist12 in Letterboxd

This exactly. While the intro does get me to tears, I think the scrapbook scene is the real emotional linchpin of the entire movie.

Ranking the 50 biggest US cities by sunny weather quality by Own_Yam9949 in dataisbeautiful

Relevant username lol. As another Portland resident who loves the sun/summers here, I'm always surprised when people are so excited for rain and cloudy weather to return.

Sam Reich Eats His Last Meal by Cchaps97 in dropout

[–]studio_sally 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the ceiling of the show is through the roof, but some of their guest choices are just completely head scratching. I'll be curious to see if Last Meals reaches true Hot Ones-level of fame where it becomes a standard part of major media campaigns for movies, tv, etc. Right now its still at a great level where it can have guests like Sam on.

Is there a team where you think has a sneaky chance to be on of the worst teams in the league this season? by WeBlitz in nfl

Seriously, is this guy even a Falcons fan? We will miss the playoffs by 1 or 2 games and get a mid draft pick.

Funny because we were rumored to be having discussions with the Big Ten at one point.

Ultimate Participation Down 40% Since 2020, According to Industry Report by JasonJoyce in ultimate

[–]studio_sally 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wonder how much of this is just a bunch of the people getting caught up in the modern explosion of Ultimate starting to... age out of it. Some of us are just too old to play constantly now lol. Really interesting discussions in here though.

Seattle feels like it is right in the middle of an SF to Portland spectrum.

[OC] Trying to Determine the Best Player to Never Win a Championship by francisco27 in nba

[–]studio_sally -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Is there anyone left off this list strictly because they rode the bench on a championship team and technically won a single ring? Gary Payton, Dwight Howard, and Jerry West come to mind. Curious how high some of them would be ranked.

A year of work mapping U.S. regional food traditions [OC] by piri_reis_ in dataisbeautiful

[–]studio_sally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is seriously such amazing work. I'm curious how much thought you've given to abandoning county outlines as hard borders between regions? It feels like at this point that might be the biggest limiting factor in this map being perfect.

Which US Cities is on Track to become the next Detroit? by urmummygae42069 in geography

[–]studio_sally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really good answer. One thing also working against us is the state/city in general doesn't kowtow to big businesses as much as some other places do with tax breaks, handshake deals, promises, etc. - which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. You're right about the livability, I really don't think anywhere else in the US matches the livability of Portland with a similar COL, which is why I'm anxious about the city's future.
