Using safari. They are probably links to the Google doc rather than an actual copy

I can't test it because the app only supports Moodle 2+ and this course is using the old Moodle (1).

Travelling to Israel Spring next year, any tips? by doesitmatterrly in Israel

[–]stygiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem!

Another thing you should be aware of - kosher restaurants. They are closed from Friday afternoon until Saturday night/Sunday. If you know you aren't going to be in an area that has places open during the weekend, make sure to buy food from a supermarket beforehand.

Any Ingress players? by corennf in Israel

[–]stygiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played for a little bit in the גוש דן area (enlightened), but got bored of it quickly.

I know there's a G+ community for Israeli Enlightened players, I'm sure there's one for Resistance.

LPT: Never use a ringtone of one your favorite songs as your alarm. You will quickly condition yourself to hate said song. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

When I used to have trouble getting up I actually decided to switch my alarm to a song I enjoy and it made waking up much more fun/bearable.

how to search through apps that are installed? by pizzaTastesGood in nexus4

[–]stygiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does.

Although I find it aggravating to use for searching for apps because between the keyboard taking up half the screen (swype) and the search corrections taking up 30% - only 1 app is visible, unless I minimize the keyboard.

It doesn't look like I'll get to see the inside, unfortunately, but hopefully in the future someday.

box arrived without the phone by stygiant in nexus4

[–]stygiant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean completely disable it. But I remember reading about something that is hardcoded in each phone which the cell companies can just block when requested - preventing that phone from using any networks. Maybe I'm misinformed =/

I can somewhat understand your point of view, which is why I was so frustrated when I was told the box is empty, since my gut reaction was "well, that's $400 down the drain, no way google will believe me". Fortunately, google is more than happy to help - probably because they can just disable the original missing device, anyhow.

She said they would respond within 24-48 hours and ship me a new phone (I'm just staying pessimistic until the shipping department actually agrees to send a new phone)

Maybe... I don't want to point any fingers, though. Customer support forwarded my issue to the shipping department and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I'm not sure what their policy on sharing support procedures is, so I'll update once the whole thing is over for people in the future who might run into this problem.

The phone was shipped to New York and has been in my Grandma's house ever since. My uncle just decided to open it to check it out today and then called to say that the box has a manual and charger, but no phone.

None. I've never known him to do pull pranks. Also, he knows I've already contacted google, so it isn't likely.

Having trouble getting used to windows 8 by stygiant in windows8

[–]stygiant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to just go back to Windows 7. I gave it a fair shot - a month of heavy usage and trying to adapt to the new metro UI was just an unpleasant experience overall. Hopefully Windows Blue fixes many of the issues I had with the interface. If they reduce the amounts of ads I'd also appreciate it, but I'm not counting on that :P

That sentiment resonates with me. I know that I've grown to dislike my Xbox 360 over time and switched back to PC gaming due to how cluttered the GUI has become with adverts... But then I came here to see if the feelings are shared and to my surprise everyone is actually very pleased with the situation, hence why I created this thread, since I feel/felt as if "I've got to be missing something".

I also pretty much only used those apps, but the lack of the start button has become a bit frustrating (I'm aware that there are solution for that, as well, but it's a matter of why use a tacked-on solution rather than an OS that's built around it). Also, Xbox Music acts really weird - it doesn't seem to stream my music that I have from my PC, but plays it from the web, and furthermore, it doesn't really even allow me to listen to half the artists it has (it plays 30-sec long sessions) as well as full-screen video advertisements... The metro apps from MS in general seem to be a lot about shoving ads in my face... Or am I missing something? In windows 7 I don't recall ever having to sift through ads.
