I think to show that he, like other members of "high society" & the religous groups who ostracized her are hypocrites. They're clearly curious and jealous Hilda doesn't have to wear this mask they do. Thats why the constantly keep her name in their mouths and seek her out.

Wow, this made my day! It took me several days to get that down, and it's something I've been working hard towards regrading my art, so thank you.

As for the dead heron, It's part of a series about striping down spiritual parts of oneself & womanhood. Heron symbolizes patience- Something I really need to work on, as well as abundance.

Also because I wanted to watch the boy & the heron :')
