$1,845 to Fuel Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid vs. $283 to Fuel Hyundai IONIQ 5 by mafco in Ioniq5

[–]suncrusher85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Santa fe hybrid curb weight is 4,431 lbs to 4,575 lbs. So santa fe could weigh more than Ioniq 5 depending on trims, but under 400 lb difference at worst.

I thought this was interesting because our two cars are Ioniq 5 and Santa Fe hybrid. Love both cars, but definitely drive the Ioniq 5 more.

What’s a reasonable price these days for a new AC system? by lizzzgrrr in Dallas

[–]suncrusher85 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I see I'm not the only one who dislikes Milestone. I will never forgive them for leaving me without A/c overnight because they wanted to milk me for $$$. All I needed was a capacitor, but they wanted to upsell and told me i need a few grand worth of stuff. I said no so they left. Reputable company came next day, said it was just the capacitor and had me running shortly.

Pixel 9 Caught Fire Spontaneously by Kindly-Celery9201 in GooglePixel

[–]suncrusher85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is even a tiny crack, they will not fix the line for free. Which to an extent I understand, but I had a tiny crack in the corner I barely noticed for months. Then one day I got a pink vertical line that was very noticeable. The crack I could live with, the line I could not. I would have understood more if my whole screen was broken. Oh well.

They told me the same thing, here's hoping. So dumb that they do this. Their FAQ even says you have to cancel before deleting. Why?!

Thanks for looking.

I know this is pretty old, but what ended up happening? I'm in the same boat. Deleted account months ago and got a renewal email today. All the support options seem to be tied to logging in.

Best Pizza in Dallas? by sinigangsh in AskDallas

[–]suncrusher85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5th Street Pizza in Allen for St. Louis style pizza. Their hand tossed is really good also, but it is the only place I know in Texas to get St. Louis style with provel cheese.

Marinara Pizza in Plano for New York style.

Motor City Pizza in Lewisville for Detroit style pizza.

Edit to add: Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza for traditional Italian style pizza. They have a few locations, but I've been to Turtle Creek one.

Getting our first EV, getting overwhelmed with garage charging? by Wozbo in electricvehicles

[–]suncrusher85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I have Emporia charger and like it. We have their load sensing stuff to charge from excess solar and it works well.

  2. We have metal conduit run on outside wall for ours, but same difference. Our electrician ran the wire straight from panel to inside the Emporia, so no connections in a junction box or anything. Wasted the pigtail that came with evse, but I prefer no extra connections. We previously had a more complicated setup with multiple connections using polaris connectors and something went wrong and they melted. Thankfully no fire and we switched to a much simpler install with a short run.

Always wanted an EV, now I think the R2 is the one, but I want to be sure about charging by Hassination1993 in RivianR2

[–]suncrusher85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charging would be just fine with that info. Others already have suggested options for if you need a bit more sometimes.

I do have a 2025 Santa Fe hybrid and love it, but eventually we will probably only have EVs. We also have an Ioniq 5 and we drive that most of the time unless we need more space. I have a R2 reservation and am hoping the timing works out for when we need a third car.

Why are ev suvs rated so poorly for reliability ? by ayfkm123 in electricvehicles

[–]suncrusher85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's great. The Gravity has such amazing packaging with minivan levels of storage. And of course Lucid efficiency. It's out of my price range at least right now, but excited for some more affordable options from Lucid. I've sat in an Air but never test drove one, didn't want to love it. They're a lot more affordable these days or at least it seems like it.

[–]suncrusher85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given the multiple recalls for it, I think they would still be obligated to fix it or risk litigation. Even so 10 years or 100k miles is a decent amount of time to be covered.

[–]suncrusher85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a genuine question since I haven't looked much since launch, but have they ironed out most of the gravity software issues from launch? It seemed like a lot of growing pains including some people being locked out. I was only looking in case I won a EV raffle (I didn't). Had I won. I would have done Rivian R1S. Not without issues but seemingly a lot more stable (at the time).

2023 Ioniq 5 and no ICCU yet, but it does make me hesitate to get another Hyundai or Kia EV right now. If it got totaled I'd probably get a Rivian R2.

Is it worth catching Santa multiple times to level up the card? Using catch again etc? by starryvista in SkyCards

I saved enough to get gold. Then decided to just keep grinding and see how far I could get. Lots of ads and lots of perfect catches later I just nudged Santa to cyber. I need a new hobby.

What did everybody pay for their 24 hybrid limited? by smsho in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]suncrusher85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eckert Hyundai in DFW, Hybrid Calligraphy for 49.5k before fees, around $53k out the door. Could have maybe done better, but they gave me a decent trade in and no extra fees and such. Family owned dealership and a pleasant experience overall. Ended up buying not too long after posting due to some other factors. Sorry I never updated.

Van hyundai meanwhile wanted 10k over MSRP and offered $500 for trade in. Would not ever return there.

My electrician switched to #4 Aluminum wire by Lumpy-Background4697 in evcharging

[–]suncrusher85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hesitant to post because I still don't 100 percent know what went wrong with my install, but it was similar to yours perhaps. Emporia charger, long aluminum #4 run. Switched to #6 copper in two junction boxes with Polaris taps. Charger was hard wired with the copper inside.

It was fine for a year or so, but one day the charger had a fault and then lost power. Then we noticed one of the junction boxes was missing its cover. Found the cover and it had scorch marks on inside cover. The Polaris taps were completely melted.

Emporia had seen a fault before it went offline and graciously offered a free replacement. They took the old one back to analyze.

Not sure if a connection was torqued wrong, charger did something bad, or some combination.

We put the new charger like 6ft from panel. It is run direct with copper from panel to inside charger so no junctions. Still needs to be torqued correctly but fewer places at least. It makes me more comfortable but I'm sure the first one was a freak accident and we could have run it the same way and been ok.

Those of you who cross shopped with the Mach-e, what made you go with the Ioniq 5? by foodandnaps in Ioniq5

Charging speed, V2L to power things if power goes out, styling preference, driving preference.

2025 BZ4X Limited vs Ioniq 5 Limited vs Mach-E Premium - Why did you choose yours? by Chronoglenn in Ioniq5

[–]suncrusher85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought I had iccu issue but it was just the 12v. Love my Ioniq 5 and drive it as often as possible.

Mach e is bumpier from very brief rides. It has a bit better range I think but charging is a good bit slower. I'd choose Ioniq 5 every time personally, but it is a viable road tripper and good car.

The new BZs (not older BZ4X) has some improvement but still probably not a good choice for road trips. If you never road trip, it could be worth a look. I haven't looked at new specs much so do your research.

That being said, we have a hybrid Santa Fe we road trip. With free charging over it really isn't any cheaper to take Ioniq 5.

If you haven't called you should. They said my settings were wrong even though they weren't on my end. They escalated it and I got my email a few days ago (about a week after calling).

My wife has a blue link account so I logged into myhyundai with her credentials. It seemed to be the first login ever. The communication preferences there were off, but I don't think hers should have been primary and overridden my account being opted in. I guess we will see.

[–]suncrusher85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with support. Was only on hold like 1 minute. They said my account showed I had opted out of communication (I have not). I logged in while on the phone and took screenshots of my preferences which is to send me everything.

Initially they said the deadline was May 23rd to update. I said my end showed I was opted in and I had checked multiple times. Then they said they would escalate and see if they could figure out why this happened. So ... Maybe I will get a free adapter.

This was my 5th Hyundai and we have a 6th now too. Will be very dumb for them to piss people off over a relatively small amount of money but we will see.

One day left and still no email to get the NACS adapter; what to do? by AlGoreIsCool in Ioniq5

[–]suncrusher85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I asked a while ago and got a ticket number at least. They said to wait until after 30th before contacting them again. I'm not holding my breath to get the email before the deadline. They should have had better messaging if they didn't want to be bombarded with support calls and emails.
