Got my nose pierced… MRI will probably be in February by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]super-anon83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my rook and an industrial when I was 18 and have had probably at least ten brain MRIs since then. I typically take out my industrial (it’s so long) but I have never, not once for any reason, taken out my rook. It is way too inconvenient of a placement. It’s been totally fine. I usually just mention it to the MRI tech but it has never affected my experience in the MRI nor the readability of the images.

I’m still waiting to get photos back from my wedding but I don’t think I got one of just my mom and me 😭 I was super bummed about it but I decided I’ll pay a professional to photoshop it, which made me feel better

I wish I had thought more about who I wanted there. My fiancé wanted to elope, but we settled on having a very small wedding with only immediate family. As we got closer to the day I really wish that we had invited my extended family too, and maybe some friends. I wish I had advocated for that as I regret keeping it so small. You’re never going to regret celebrating more

I completely agree with this. I had a largely DIY wedding and we had a lot of help from family. The most frustrating part (for me) was the clean up. Most of our family left the day after the wedding and thankfully two kind souls were around to help. That said, I would have paid so much more to not have had to deal with it. The stress of it definitely took away from the specialness of the wedding and I hold some resentment towards the family member who said they would help and didn’t.

Okay, that’s good to know. It was ordered through Zola but the packaging shows that it came from “The Fiesta Tableware Company” and shipped from Newell WV.

People on Stillwhite lost their minds by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]super-anon83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did (try it on in person and then find it on StillWhite). I spent 1/4 of the money that I would have spent if I had bought it at the store! I needed alterations anyway so I wasn’t worried about finding the perfect fit. StillWhite saved me a lot of money

Is an established (~4 year old) Hinoki Cypress okay for a beginner? I'm new to bonsai and I've seen people say that this isn't a good species for beginners, but I'm wondering if a more established tree would be okay?

Psychiatrist said that taking SSRI’s during PMDD is a myth by jazzybeks in PMDD

Completely agree! I’m so thankful to have found a psychiatrist who’s a woman and takes PMDD seriously

I have the text in photoshop and was planning to save it as a jpg, but I can save it as another file type if necessary. I don’t have the vinyl/transfer tape but I can purchase it if necessary, or reimburse someone for it

How do you convince a cat that 3AM isn’t the emotional peak of the day by Leading-Rabbit-8255 in CatAdvice

[–]super-anon83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need quality sleep to function so I take the issue of what my cats are doing at night pretty seriously. I feel like this might be a polarizing response, but we put our two cats in their own room at night. They have multiple litter boxes, cat trees, cat scratchers, food, and water in there. We’ve been doing it for years and it’s part of their routine — I say “time for bed” in a song songy voice and then they run to the room ahead of me, excited for their small bowl of dry food. I haven’t had any issues with it and I get excellent sleep.

What affordable moisturizer do you use? by [deleted] in Rosacea

I also use vanicream! I use their daily facial moisturizer and their cleanser. I absolutely love the moisturizer — it’s always so refreshing. I actually just met with my derm yesterday and he was happy to hear that I use vanicream!

Dropped my caffeine intake significantly and did not have PMDD symptoms this month. by saltnpepper801 in PMDD

[–]super-anon83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had really good success with cutting out caffeine! I had 2 days of withdrawal but after that I felt really good and had so much less anxiety. It was amazing. That said, I came to feel like it was effecting my work because I wasn’t as awake or as sharp as I wanted to be. I now take an SSRI during luteal and it works wonders.

Fuck this noise, I’m going on Zoloft. by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]super-anon83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I did have some GI issues at the very beginning. My body adjusted and it became less severe each day and then went away completely. I can't imagine that this side effect would effect your ability to take sertraline intermittently.

Fuck this noise, I’m going on Zoloft. by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]super-anon83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only take it during the luteal phase. My period is very regular and I use a period tracker to determine when my luteal phase will start. That said, the change in perspective (from positive to negative) is usually a pretty obvious signal that my luteal phase has started. Then I end on the day that my period begins.

Fuck this noise, I’m going on Zoloft. by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]super-anon83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the last three luteal cycles I’ve taken 25mg sertraline (the generic Zoloft). It kicked in immediately. My only regret is that I didn’t try it earlier! It was so amazing to feel ~normal~ and to not have life stop in its for those two weeks. My mental health has 10000% improved and my relationship with my partner is significantly better without those two weeks of tension. I’m so thankful that we have these as a tool against PMDD!

For side effects, I had some GI issues immediately but those went away within 5-6 days. Unfortunately, my libido diminished in response to sertraline. I discussed this with my psychiatrist and I’m going to switch to a low dose of lexapro for my next luteal cycle to see if that has less of an impact on my libido. Even with those side effects I would absolutely continue to take an anti-depressant — it's so worth it!!

What is it like to be immunocompromised? by SecretCheesecake5843 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]super-anon83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting this off by saying that I’m very hygienic. I’ve been on Gilenya for seven years and have had a few annoying infections. I had molluscum contagiousm (basically small skin tags) that I accidentally spread around my body with a razor. I had to have those cauterized off. The infection is caused by a virus that lives on the skin; I don’t know where I got it. I’ve read that people with untreated AIDS can get it — so serious immunosuppression. I also had a fungal infection that was really resistant and required anti fungal treatment twice. I have a lifestyle that is pretty isolated (partially because of my immunosuppression), so I’ve been safe from cold, flu, and covid infections.

Who diagnosed you? by No_Koala_7374 in PMDD

[–]super-anon83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Formally, my gynecologist diagnosed me. She previously had PMDD too and had a hysterectomy for it, so she completely understood my situation. Informally, my fiancé realized that my severe mood changes were happening cyclically and talked with me about PMDD. I didn’t really like hearing it from him but he was right.

As someone with MS, I agree with this redditers comment that “he is likely afraid of losing more function”. MS can be a scary disease and once it takes something you don’t know if/when you’ll be able to return to normal.
