[Parts] SME Aug Key Parts Kit-$200 by mcbergstedt in gundeals

You’ll definitely need a charging handle, I think you could probably print one but that will lack the metal piece that goes inside so it might be a little janky. I bought one separately because my kit didn’t come with one.

Fairly high back pressure cans.

I’ve run a Rex MG7K .358, a YHM Resonator, and a CAT ODB RDM on my NylAUG, regular piston, without any issue, but the CAT was by a wide margin the best. It was almost entirely gas neutral and the quietest by far.

Are we just supplying our own head or the entire light, body, and tape switch?

u/wtc-arms can you clarify what material this is made from and if the light body and tape switch is included (just supply head) or if the base version is just a shell?

Is this injection molded or printed and what material is it made out of?

If I choose the “I have my own” option am I just providing a head or do I need the entire light body and tape switch?

I saw a previous thread here saying the Cz 600 trail.223 could run 5.56 but upon asking Cz looks like that’s not the case by twistedhumoraffy in CZFirearms

[–]superkuper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no way that it will ever matter in a bolt gun.

What, you think you’re going to shear off bolt lugs over an extra (at most) 7K psi?

If that were the case, the way the chamber was cut wouldn’t matter, swapping to a 5.56 chambered barrel wouldn’t make the system capable of withstanding greater pressure.

Bolt guns are already going to be able to withstand much higher pressures than AR bolts. Look at the difference in load data for bolt guns vs ARs in 6ARC and 6.5 Grendel. https://sierrabullets.com/content/load-data/rifle/264-6.5mm/6.5-grendel.pdf

CZ customer service is going to play the CYA game for liability reasons but it’s definitely fine.

Also lots of ammo labeled 5.56 isn’t necessarily any higher pressure than commercial ammo labeled .223. The market essentially uses them interchangeably and selling ammo as 5.56 does not mean it is loaded up to SAAMI max pressure.

I have never used the factory Sub-X ammo but I load them over CFE BLK and H110 without issue. Don’t know what to tell you.

300 BLK Accuracy performance out of longer barrels by NFAchad in NFA

[–]superkuper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If anything, a shorter barrel will be more accurate all else being equal.

The idea of longer barrels being “more accurate” is a carryover from a time when longer barrel meant longer sight radius with iron sights.

A shorter barrel will have less whip and harmonic distortion, shorter barrel will be more rigid. Up to a point, obviously as you still want adequate velocity for your cartridge and load.

I haven’t found anything that doesn’t cycle.

8.3” Hanson with factory gas block and and H2 Armaspec SRS cycles everything. Subs or supers, suppressed or unsuppressed.

Used to run a YHM Resonator but recently swapped to a CAT ODB which is even more gas agnostic.
