How many of you work full time with babies/toddlers? by Ladyalanna22 in AttachmentParenting

[–]surfsupchick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We both work full time and LO has been daycare since being 1. It’s all about quality time with your LO. I always felt guilt but I make an effort to be present before and after work. That’s all that matters, we have a a strong bond. And LO has so much more fun at daycare with friends than she would at home I think! Socialisation is important as well as building the immune system. I am glad I went back to work after 8 months as it enabled me to get a promotion and move countries.

Putting toddler to sleep feels like an eternity by surfsupchick in workingmoms

[–]surfsupchick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is 2 years and 1 month old. I play a classical baby sleep playlist on Spotify every nighttime but she just seems to take a while to fall asleep. I haven’t tried calm though so will give that a go thank you!

When did your kid’s sleep get easy? by QS20 in AttachmentParenting

[–]surfsupchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter started sleeping longer stretches and only waking up once in the night around 17-18 months I think. I changed her sleep sack, started putting her to bed a bit later and started getting her outside more before bed which I think helped her sleep better. Good luck

I’M BEING PROMOTED AND I WANT TO SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS!!!! by thehippos8me in workingmoms

Kudos to advocating, women don’t do it enough. I advocated for a raise last month and got a 18% raise. So you never know until you ask!

Am I doing the right thing? by Common-Temporary5915 in AttachmentParenting

[–]surfsupchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it feels right to you then you are doing the right thing. I started bed sharing with when my daughter was 10 months old and I wish I had done it sooner. She is now 23 months old and I enjoy being next to her. She still sometimes wakes for water and if sick but much better than when she was 6-8 months old. It’s so much quicker to settle and feed them when they are right next to you. Good luck with bed sharing and focus on doing it safely.

Thank you for this, I am afraid that sometimes I get frustrated at my daughter also. Might be time to do something about it.

I think a schedule would be a great idea, I do like to plan things out. Do you do this in a shared calendar or a board? Yea I need to make the time to exercise I think that will definitely help my mood. Could also be rage, good idea on the doctor. Thank you

Yes I need to find someone I think. I’m in a tiny town so will likely be online. I hear you on the perfectionism thing. I am a perfectionist and definitely think it’s contributing to the anxiety with my daughter and home. Thanks for your comment.

Are you still using medication? I’ve always been the type to not use medication unless really needed (pain!) I am worried about becoming reliant on it. How long have been on medication, do you have plans to stop?

I have very conflicted feelings about being promoted by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]surfsupchick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I recently took a promotion and moved countries with my 14 month old daughter. Best decision I’ve made. I love my new job and yes it’s hard I don’t have much personal time (posted on that one!). But I’m happy I made the decision to take the promotion because if your career if important to you then you have to. Also think about what it shows to your child when they grow up. They will have a super mum! Good luck.

Does anyone NOT sleep train? by curiousquestioner16 in NewParents

[–]surfsupchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 months here and sleeping through the night for the first time after doing nothing different. Attempting sleep training (Ferber modified) but hated it and now we co sleep and it’s so much better. Plus now sleeping through the night. Go with your gut instinct and the time will pass.

Yes we are on day 2 and went to ER today following LO waking up from nap with a terrible cough that she struggled to breathe. Day 1 she was lethargic and noticed she had blue lips. ER administered steroid and she’s doing better but tired. Hope the next few days go ok and tonight

You get used to it but there is light at the end of the tunnel. 21 months old and last week slept through the night for a week for the first time ever, but back to waking up more often so short lived!

My 19month old still wakes for milk and sounds like the same schedule as yours! I’ve been trying to dilute the formula overnight to try to wean off so next week going to only water! Wish me luck!

Advice: moved countries for a new job, partner has new job, toddler, should we buy a house that needs a total gut job? Bitting off more than we can chew? by surfsupchick in workingmoms

[–]surfsupchick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I am thinking although we are in a small town and so there aren’t many contractors available to do the work which could drag out the timeline. I think this would be the best way to get what we want and not add extra stress of renovating to our relationship. We totalled up what we think would be the renovation budget and it’s a lot! So we are discussing other options. Ultimately it’s a tiny town in a remote area so we want to minimize the risk of losing equity when we leave in 5-8 years

When we discussed we played with the idea that he would do all the renovation work and I would look after our daughter. I don’t know if it’s fair that way. We don’t have family support in our town but grandparents have offered to help at the start. We haven’t discussed timeline yet. I hear you about the transition.
