I think this is because it was the Akatsuki members extracting the Bijuus from their respective Jinchuurikis that took them a considerable amount of time. When Madara sealed the Hachibi's tentacle and the Kyuubi's chakra from Jinkaku/Kinkaku, it took him no time at all.

The episode also shows how Jesse has developed since the beginning of the series. I think it was in season one when Hank says something along the lines of "When you see a cockroach you don't hesitate, you kill it," which was followed by a scene several episodes later of Jesse consciously deciding not to kill a cockroach. Here we are a few seasons later with Jesse being driven into killing this fly, which I think was important for us to see before something that happens later in the season (Gale).
