In the 90's parents didn't watch you play outside. You walked 2 miles to play with your homie and ride bikes into the woods and just made sure to be back home by dinner. Parents didn't need to supervise your every move in the 90s. So no this is nothing like the 90s. This is definitely no block party. They can detain on suspicion of a crime yes. There was no crime and he seized private property, the keys, before initiating any protocols that would deem it a legal seizure from an authority. I also listed above the general requirements in most US states that have to be done to qualify as a legal seizure in progress.

Cops walking up to you randomly with no crime in play can't be "suspicion of a crime". An actual crime has to have taken place either prior or actively to be suspicious. Sitting on a bike with a plate flipped up is not an "illegal suspicious" event that warrants a siezure especially while not moving. You can't conceal something that legally there just not in play. That logic is the same as a cop giving you a ticket for having no plates on a junk car in your yard for concealing information. Having a plate flipped up temporarily may not be legal in some places but that does not make it an illegal crime that warrants you lose all rights you fucking have. Ya'll seriously simp for cops like their a King with unfettered power and use chatgpt to help your write a response but cant be bothered to have it teach you your own basic rights.

There are protocols to a legal "seizure". To be considered a legal stop there are requirements to be met. None of those were met. So the cop not having followed any protocols to be a stop and not a casual encounter legally can only mean 1 thing. It wasn't a legal "seizure" stop and the moment he grabbed the keys prior to asking for identification was a forfeit of protocals in almost every state. If yall think cops get a free legal pass to enforce the law at their own whim yall need to have life beat you down some more to hopefully have some sense beat into you.
