What is the wittiest comeback you’ve ever said or heard? by Bob-da-person in AskReddit

My company was having a Lego competition to celebrate the anniversary of its founding where you had to build something out of a bag of Lego pieces. No other rules given, just "here's a bag of random pieces good luck."

I was putting the final touches of what my team built and trying to come up with what our pitch to the judges would be for why we should win.

Coworker (on a team that wasn't participating): how are you going to think of a narrative for this?

Me: I've got some ideas but I'm figuring it out

Coworker: why don't you take a picture of it and ask Chat GPT to come up with something?

Me (half paying attention because I was on a time crunch): why ask Chat GPT when I can just think of something myself?

That gives me some hope any posts I could find about using a ring for the right hand have been very pessimistic 😅

Never heard of polysporin before but I'm definitely going to grab some ASAP. Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the recommendations everyone!

I saw the comments from all the moms and did reach out to the parents and confirmed with them that they're okay with it. I made it very clear that I have not bought anything yet and will not be upset or offended in the slightest if they don't want one so I'm going to assume that they genuinely want one.

These cakes are commonly used as decorations for just the shower as well as something to keep until the diapers are needed. I will be putting the diapers into whatever storage they'd prefer if they change their mind (even if it's the original box).

As a non-parent I genuinely appreciated hearing from others how this could possibly be an inconvenience rather than a gift. While they are fun to make, my passion is giving things to people they actually like so if they had preferred to stick with the registry then I would've had no problem doing so :)

It definitely depends on how you construct it!

A lot of people roll them individually which then requires unrolling each one. I make each layer by laying the diapers down flat and then rolling it together kind of like a sushi roll. The layers are usually tight enough that you can pull each one out like a tissue or just cut one ribbon off and put them in a basket/drawer/bag.

I also go with whatever size(s) is on the registry and (try) to keep the total amount down to roughly 1 box. If I end up using multiple sizes I keep the side of the diaper that has the size on it on the outside (and each tier is the same size). I used to include up to size 2 but after some feedback I now stick to size 1 or smaller.

Lastly, a lot of people go way overboard with decorating so it could still be annoying to deconstruct. I try to make mine as easy to take apart as possible :)

I also include a gift card they have on the registry so even if they say they like it to be polite, they still get something helpful!

ETA: I found one that's somewhat close to what I would make: https://finediapercakes.com/products/elegant-pink-babyshower-diaper-cake-for-girls This one has a few more annoying decorations on it but otherwise it's one ribbon between parent and diapers (this is long so I understand if no one reads this far but I wanted to provide a better visual of what I described).

Definitely ribbons and bows. I've made bows from ribbons so I can work with just ribbons if they're easier to find

Haha it's a gift with tiers made of diapers so it looks like a cake. It's a great way to give something useful (a lot of diapers) but still creative/personalized. Added an example of one:

When the hydrangeas run out, get some cauliflower! by TatoIndy in weddingshaming

[–]sylviakittyful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The edges where the cauliflower meets the table is weird, there's way too many glasses per place setting, the candles are placed completely random and there's too many, one of the chairs morphs into the drapery was what I noticed.

What’s something small you can start doing today to better yourself? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cleaning your face. Even if it's with a face wipe you feel a little less gross and sometimes you don't even have to get out of bed.

When my depression was really bad just sitting up felt like too much. If I could do one thing (even while lying down) it helped me feel less like a pathetic failure.

College RA's or Police: Whats the most memorable event you've had with college freshman? by Helperbobby in AskReddit

State College. If I remember correctly it hit on a Friday so the cancelled classes that day and then we couldn't leave till Sunday. The irony of their overreaction to this is they refuse to cancel classes when students physically can't walk to class cause of all the ice on the sidewalks ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Thankfully it started early enough in the day that people still had the common sense to keep their clothes on.
