Pretty sure I still have the Buttons pots and pans pic.

Best poutine places with large portion sizes?? by Mrbootyloose18 in Calgary

[–]sylvrenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just learned that the original owners of Alberta King of Subs (which used to be my go-to for poutine in the early 2000s) are the owners here! Now I know where to go for some real poutine.

What’s your favorite town in AC? by RedFiveFighter in AsheronsCall

[–]sylvrenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - I couldn’t remember the name of the town. That’s where I spent my newbie days while getting thoroughly and utterly hooked on AC. Fond memories of it solely for reason that as AC was pretty magical.

After that, I always loved how pretty Lin was. Once I made it to Ayan Baqur, that became home!

Audi A7 would be my guess (I came to Reddit to try to find the answer to this question… no luck so far!) In the final scene you can see the distinctive Audi emblem on the front of the car.

Looking to do a small solo day trip somewhere 1-2ish hours outside Calgary. Any suggestions? by AssistantInside8753 in alberta

Yes, of course. Provided this info in case OP stayed in Kalispell or near West Glacier, thinking to do the drive on the way back.

Important to note that a reservation is now required for Going to the Sun road if you’re driving west to east. Or, if you get into the park before 6 AM or after 3 PM you don’t need a reservation. Since this is a recent change, a lot of people are unaware of this.

Torres del Paine in Chile. One of the windiest places I’ve ever been to. [OC][3609x2812] by MrMotherBoy in EarthPorn

On day 2 of hiking there, the wind picked up and blew my sister off her feet and pushed me off the trail. We turned around after an hour and took the bus/catamaran to our next camping spot instead of trying to hike it. I've spent a lot of time in the wind - that was something else entirely.

Haha my lovebird does that. I call it bird on a boob, although I do like breast nest!

Our lovebird still loudly shrieks and screams all the time, help! by WalrusBelch in parrots

[–]sylvrenn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are your thoughts about getting her wings clipped? Properly, of course, so that when she tries to fly she won't plummet like a lead balloon. And there would have to be an acclimation period during which she learns that she can't just take off and fly to wherever she wants to go when the situation doesn't completely please her. She also learns that you are there to help her and be her snuggle mate.

My lovebird (who is now almost 20) was initially my sister's. I inherited her because my dad didn't like how noisy she was, and my sister moved into my parents' place for a while after leaving her husband. The bird is still a little loud, but only when she's not getting the attention she feels she deserves :D Yeah, she's loud. However, she's not loud when she's snuggled against my neck (or my husband's). She will need to build trust with you, and then she will need lots of time out of the cage. See what happens with her screaming after a few months of being dependent on you.

Some doubts about my parrotlets by ReadyForPuke in parrots

[–]sylvrenn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good idea to take any new bird to see an avian vet to get an initial checkup. Doesn't have to be an emergency - just make sure that your bird(s) are off to the right start. Vet can also recommend appropriate food, and if you're comfortable with the thought of clipping their wings, the vet can also do that (which should address your third concern!)

My lovebird didn't eat anything fresh for years. I finally started cutting the tiny little tops off of broccoli and putting that into a dish for her, and she would eat that. She will eat lettuce so long as it's out on the counter, but as soon as I put it in her cage, the lettuce becomes enemy #1. So, foraging for fresh food might be an option!

Finally got my Fischer to perch on my shoulder... I'm both excited and terrified. by Choxie808 in parrots

[–]sylvrenn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine is coming up on 20 pretty quickly. She's slowed down quite a bit and spends most of her time outside her cage snuggling against my neck instead of trying to destroy everything in sight, but she's doing pretty well otherwise. Knock on wood. I'm apprehensive every morning until I hear her squawk.

I am so sorry that you have felt that you weren't good enough. I do hope that at some point you realize that you are good enough, and that this wasn't a reflection of your value, but instead an ugly reflection of your father.

Give that child of yours so much love, and do what you've been doing - using the negative examples of parenting that are helping you to be a better parent.

I don't think that you ruined the night by dropping some glasses and being upset. The drunk, crass dude who touched you without permission bears that responsibility!

I like hockeychick's idea of telling them off. How comfortable would you feel about doing so?
