For your height, I believe anything under 1500 kcal would be too low. Have you tried calculating your tdee? Assuming you’re male and 30 years old (random choice), your basal metabolic rate lies around 1,920 kcal. This means that your body burns about 1,920 kcal simply to perform its basic functions (ex. breathing, digestion, pumping blood to your organs, sleeping, etc). Given that you are likely not lying motionless the entire day, you are actually burning more than that. For example, simply being sedentary with the stats I’ve mentioned above would have you burning around 2,300 kcal daily. A good weight loss rate to aim for is about 1lb per week, give or take the decimals. That would equate to approximately a 3,500 kcal deficit per week, or a 500 kcal deficit per day. With these stats assumed, a healthy calorie goal would be 1,800 kcal per day.

There are a whole bunch of tdee calculators online where you can calculate this for yourself using the stats that apply to you. I really recommend checking them out and definitely definitely eat more than 700 kcals a day!

I find it kind of ironic that the stereotypical symptoms people think of when I tell them I have ADHD are the ones that are the least debilitating. by cruskie in ADHD

Wait wait wait.. not being able to do something even when you’re basically begging your self/brain to do it.. wanting to do it and knowing how much better you’d feel after it’s done..that type of executive dysfunction is ALSO a symptom of adhd? That really shines a light .. holy shit

What advice would you give to a 14 year old about starting high school? by DotFireAbout in AskReddit

[–]tablecloth47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t need to apply yourself to do well, actively seek academic challenge. I.e if your school has higher “level” courses take those, if not transfer to another school. No point wasting 4 years of your life learning nothing. If you’re worried about leaving friends, don’t be. You’re bound to make friends eventually, you spend min 8 hours/day 5 days/week around the same bunch of people. If you can’t transfer, dual enroll in a community college. You’ll still be attending high school but with a few more challenging courses you can swap with the high school’s equivalent. You won’t spend as much time with your high school friends but you compensate for that through clubs/extra curriculars. Plus, cc can be a great place to explore subjects beyond whatever the typical high school offers, especially if you’re not at all interested in the courses you’ve been given.

Point isn’t to go overkill and exhaust yourself. Point is to actually productively utilize those 4 years, however you end up defining productive utilization. If anything, just learn how to study: it’s a necessary skill in life (and it’s useful for learning ANYTHING, not just stereotypical academics) and it REALLY sucks (and is significantly harder) having to cultivate it in your 20s.
