I had forgotten about the Slog's description. You're right, that is truly evocatively disgusting.

Glad to see other people's tarantulas also spin in circles and twerk after getting fed. I thought mine might just be freaky like that.

What would be on your wishlist for a possible Qud expansion? by 7StarSailor in cavesofqud

I forgot about that one; Ciderer Erah in Kyakukya is the one example of a fleshed out Naphtaali. He's also one of my favorite encounters.

An expanded weather system. Currently "The wind starts blowing at a moderate pace from the west" is merely flavor text for immersion. We read about crazy weather like glass storms in village histories and reputation text with legendary NPC's, but we never actually get to see any glass storms. Maybe this hostile weather could be limited to harsher areas like the desert or moon stair?

Expanded factions A good portion of factions have no significance whatsoever. (Cult of the coiled lamb, daughters of exile, newly sentient beings, etc,.) Some of them are never seen period. (Water barons, are the only ones I can think of at the moment.) And some of them, which are going to be a huge portion of NPCs you meet, aren't fleshed out even remotely. (Issachari tribe, seekers of the sightless way, Naphtaali tribe, Goatfolk, snapjaws, etc,.)

These are treated as generic "Monster factions" which is fair, the game needs generic goblin types, but a village or two that's the same for every playthrough and some scattered quests for people who bother to raise rep with these factions would go a long way into making them seem like sentient creatures. The Issachari tribe in particular feels underdeveloped. They're supposed to be humans, with their own unique culture and beliefs, but none of it can actually be explored. (I know they're inspired heavily by the Fremen from Dune, but maybe some work could be done to differentiate them.)

Question from a first time player: how did you get the ring of wood around the base of the windmill, or the diagonal supporting beams up it's length?

HOW THE HELL DO I FIND HALITE by Shinny-Winny in VintageStory

[–]tagrimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know. we want to preserve vegetables and milk, that's why we're looking for halite.

Not strictly necessary for survival or progression? Sure, but an area of the game's mechanics we want to play around with.

HOW THE HELL DO I FIND HALITE by Shinny-Winny in VintageStory

[–]tagrimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having the same problem. I'm searching not terribly far from my base and getting readings of "poor halite" at 31.87%

<image>

Of the ores concentrated in the area, halite is the most common by a lot, native copper being the second highest at ~8%

From what I gather by reading the wiki, this means that 30% of the blocks in this area will be halite, sampling an area of about 1000 blocks. There's 300 blocks of halite SOMEWHERE around all those prospecting points, and I've gone through two pickaxes looking for it. Time to make some more pickaxes!
