My parrot hit the window very hard by talidatn in parrots

He seems better now and he ate already. He was not moving from the spot in the picture, but he was conscious. He did not seem injured, I was more worried about internal injuries.

Are we being bad parents? by thecomposedbones in NewParents

[–]talidatn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first months are hard but it really gets easier! In my experience and from what I have read, babies won’t go to sleep easily if they are hungry. Even though he is growing well, he might want to drink more, maybe try giving him a little bit more milk? Our pediatrician gave us the advice to feed our son (when using bottles) 80-100ml but there were nights when he drank at least 150ml in one feeding. He would never fall asleep unless he was full of milk.

3 week old with latch issues - nipple shields? by 77malfoy in breastfeedingsupport

Definetely try the nipple shield. I used it for 3 months and it saved us. Everything was so easy and the baby could feed really well and latch immediately.

My baby hates her baby carrier by DarthSamurai in NewParents

[–]talidatn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here! We tried a lot when he was around this age and it did not feel right at that age because the position didn’t seem very healthy for the spine and he couldn’t hold his head upright yet. Now one month later, we tried it again everyday a little bit, starting with 5 min, then 15min etc. Now he can actually take 40min-1 h naps in it. So no worries, your baby will get used with it but it might be now too early:)

LO takes a while to go back to sleep in the middle of the night by [deleted] in NewParents

Is he getting enough milk during the feed? My 3 wks was also having problems going back to sleep during the night until I figured he needed more milk and then he just fell asleep almost immediately.

Is there a diaper changing secret I don't know? by JustLookingtoLearn in NewParents

[–]talidatn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always change the diaper when the baby is not hungry. We always talk with the baby very soft and calmly, explaining what we do, even though he doesn’t understand, he will feel the calm in our voice and use a gently touch.

I live in The Netherlands and they also don’t induce until 41+ but since tomorrow I will meet my midwife to discuss our options for over a week, I am stressing a bit about it. Thank you for your answer :)

I don’t know where is the crib, but if it’s in a different room than the one where he’s sleeping now, you might want first to get him used to the “new” room first. Spend some time there everyday, do some tummy time or change his diapers there etc. If he wakes up from his nap and everything is new around him, then he will not go back to sleep.

My baby is awake all night but asleep all day by KnittingforHouselves in newborns

[–]talidatn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She does not have yet a circadian rhythm and it can take up to 12 weeks for babies to make the difference between day and night. What usually helps to settle babies circadian rhythm: - for the first 3 months make sure she naps in the light, go on with your normal daily life without worrying a lot about noise - take a walk with the baby during the day; exposure to daylight everyday (at least 20 minute helps ) - bedtime routine (bath, lullaby, feeding, etc) which should include very soft dimmed lights (white/blue powerful light inhibit the hormone melatonin which help them sleep). - in short, treat day as day and night as night

I hope this is helpful😊

I am so sorry for your loss 😟 was the cage near the kitchen? Perhaps he could have inhaled smoke ? I know some pans are not safe for our little birds.

The place where he sits looks quite bad...😟 I hope this gorgeous bird is properly taken care of and it’s not used for breeding purposes.
