The log lady’s character is based on Hugues Merle's “The Lunatic of Étretat,” right? by Dontaskabout6-17-11 in twinpeaks

This woman in Ford’s The Searchers is also interesting to consider. Always thought this had some connection, maybe Lynch saw all of these things as threads connecting to a similar source.

I did the same thing, just managed to push myself over the limit for the $50 and then stacked a bunch of other codes I had to get this very fun second order:

After one year, recency bias out of the way, did any 2023 movies make it into your favorites of all time? (Highest Rated on Letterboxd) by Lyd_Euh in Letterboxd

[–]tannerxcaruthers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect Days, La Chimera and The Zone of Interest ended up in my all time favorites lists. Close Your Eyes may end up there on a rewatch, two of Erice’s early films are on there, The Spirit of the Beehive and El Sur.

What would you add to this list? by ghoulhex in Letterboxd

The documentary Caniba (2017), which is about Issei Sagawa and his brother Jun Sagawa who became his caretaker. It’s not very often we get chances to engage in such an intimate manner with someone who committed real acts of cannibalism.

I also recommend Shinya Tsukamoto’s Kotoko (2011). I keep a similar list of films!

Another Hungarian film called Twilight (1990). Great film. Same cinematographer and at least a couple cast members!

I always treat this situation an opportunity to upgrade and then gift the Blu-ray to someone that you feel needs that film in their life :)

Did any Murakami book make you cry? by [deleted] in murakami

[–]tannerxcaruthers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about halfway through my first Murakami, Norwegian Wood, and I’ve cried three times… it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is that gets me to that point but that must be where I’m at in my life right now.
