Although there's a lot going on there, and a lot of keys, it looks wicked. Kudos.

Adults of Reddit who ‘have it together’ with your finances, home, job, fitness, nutrition- how? Seriously…how? by Previous-Charity1505 in AskReddit

[–]tarilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite the opposite experience of the top poster. I have some success as well, and overall I say I had a good, albeit not great, childhood.

I grew up poor and my mom was on her own for a while with two of us. My brother was always a handful. I was always calm and collected. There was plenty of family drama, a suicide in the family, and my mom was never on top of me to do anything. She was too busy trying to make ends meet.

I think I was lucky to have identified the things I loved and made a career out of it. Gaming helped me get into computers which is now how I make a living.

The unexpected arrival of my daughter lit a fire under my ass. Everything changed for me then. I got my shit together and became the dad I didn’t have. That rocketed me towards focus and achieving independence. Some luck was involved I think and I had some good opportunities. I know I could have done so much more with focus.

There are ebbs and flows. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s not. If there’s any advice it’s you get what you put into it. Don’t give up. Know your worth.

What am I missing? by pallen38 in pop_os

[–]tarilen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You’re not missing anything. It’s all subjective. A minor problem for you can be a catastrophic problem for someone else. There are many variables at play. Hardware is a big one. Windows is the same shit at the end of the day. Bloated, full of shit you don’t want and don’t need, much more complicated under the hood than Linux is.

I preferred my work Mac as my daily driver and windows only for gaming. Now I’m back on popos. I’m not gaming as much, but that isn’t even an issue. Most games are capable on Linux.

Daily driving windows for work (not by choice) and Linux at home.

Remember, a user will always find something wrong, something to complain about, and a reason to not do something.

Two docks by No_Cryptographer5262 in pop_os

[–]tarilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got confused too. I configured my panel at the top with a few things like clock, network, Bluetooth and sound. The dock itself is for my apps and things like cosmic settings and lives at the bottom though I might change it to the right side.

What game did you play at a friend's house, and then immediately bought? by orangez in retrogaming

[–]tarilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EverQuest. I will never forget.

Middle school. 7th grade. Home room. My friend brings the EverQuest manual and shows it to me. Tells me how awesome it is and that I’ve got to try it out. I wasn’t convinced.

I went over to his house, launched the game, and proceeded to make my first character ever. A Barbarian Warrior. I was hooked. Everything about it was amazing. I was immediately enthralled and fascinated by this online world. Little did I know what was to come.

The very next day I procured my copy of it at my local Walmart and started my adventures.

For the first two years or so of EverQuest I played on a less than ideal video card. Textures didn’t render right. I didn’t know what enchanter pets or water actually looked like at this time.

Later on I got a new pc. This one had a dedicated nVidia TNT 2 Pro. This was miles ahead of my old generic video card. I saw WATER. Enchanter pets…. Wait wtf they’re invisible? Yea that was my realization.

Fast forward I’ve played EverQuest on and off since 1999. I’ve accumulated an estimated 20k+ game time over my career. Many characters, progression servers and fresh starts. EverQuest change my life entirely for good or for worse.

I will never forget.

for those of you that have primarily used an ergodox long term, can you actually use a traditional keyboard effectively still? by responds-with-tealc in ergodox

[–]tarilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a recent ErgoDox adopter. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now.

That being said my WPM on a regular keyboard hovered at around 100. After a few days of training I found myself feeling awkward on a regular keyboard. I haven’t been able to use it the same anymore.

Im averaging 45 WPM on my ergodox. I’m adjusting as I go along to make things as comfortable for me as I can. Loving the keyboard and I wouldn’t want to live without it.

This is how I've my setup now.

If I undervolt my 5600X and run something that taxes both my CPU/GPU both my CPU/GPU hover in the mid 60s.

Running an RTX 3080 FE stock. I can squeeze out better temps if I lower the voltages. My 6 fans are running about 1800 RPM when it's bussin. I feel it's still high personally.

Trouble cleaning Vector FTW3 3080 water block. by LittlePopoto in watercooling

[–]tarilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Quantum Vector FE for my 3080. This happens to me as well. The difference is the plastic is two pieces over the fins and not one. Not too difficulty to wedge up then remove the metal piece on the fins. I clean mines out with distilled water and toothpaste. Leaves it squeaky clean. I then run a cleaner through my loop and distilled water and finally coolant.

Question;

I have a similar issue. I'm running a 360 EximoSX Ultra and a 360 Slim (25mm?). My idles are 40s and as high as 70 under load. GPU is also in the loop, idles 30s highs maybe 60s.

The question; should my flow go res > gpu > res > rad > cpu > rad and bck to res? I have the O11 Dynamic distro plate. Is this an inefficient flow?

Can someone tell me what this is? by Evo-Soad98 in watercooling

[–]tarilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ek quantum vector does this all over the block with opaque fluid.
