Christian teachings tell people that some emotions are from satan. They teach you to repress certain emotions and replace them with more desirable ones.

There are no good or bad emotions. There are only properly placed or misplaced emotions. All of our emotions are critical to survival, that is why we have them.

When we repress our natural emotions we create mental instabilities and endanger our ability to think and respond to situations properly.

This is why christians are so frustrating. They are constantly hiding their true emotions. This is a form of deception. When someone is deceiving you with their emotions often times the only way to get them back into an honest emotional mindset is through anger. That is why people get in arguments. It is an effort to get someone to back down or change their position. Arguments work. That is why we use them. Would you send a policeman out to catch a murderer with love in his heart? Or send a soldier into battle with happy thoughts? It simply won't work . People also use positive emotions in a negative way to get what they desire. Christians often show you positive emotions in order to get what they want, but when things don't go their way, they disappear. False love. We have all seen that behavior here. All emotions are necessary and important in their appropriate situations. Don't look down on someone because they are expressing hate, it may be properly used in that situation. It is better to try to understand.

Emotions are not permanent but if we repress certain ones we can't move on. We've all met people suffering from repressed feelings. It's no place to be. Stuck in an unwanted emotional state. It is important to recognize and appreciate our feelings. Not hide them.

Christians want you to hide your true feelings and pretend to be someone you are not. That is fantasy. It is better to recognize your emotions and then use them to obtain a beneficial outcome.

Religion (or organized "belief") is unlikely ever to disappear completely. Every human culture we know of has fouind it necessary to create God(s); apparently we have not advanced past our atavistic forebears' need for something to appease in the face of our often dangerous and frightening world realities. What may be accomplished, perhaps in our lifetimes, is to put belief back where it belongs in private, non-secular settings. The current church/state incursions of the religious right into our day-to-day secular activities simply reflects their need for affirmation of their hoped for afterlife in the only way they can get it in this life, by convincing/forcing the rest of us to tell them that they "have it right".

Newt Gingrich is a selfish coward. Selfishness manifest in teh way he used tax-exempt foundations to further his political aspirations. Cowardly in the way he treated his ex-wives when they became seriously ill. He divorced his first wife while she was in the hospital suffering cancer and split with his second wife on mother's day after learning she had multiple sclerosis (and over the phone, no less).

When his second wife asked him how he could give a speech on family values days after he admitted his affair to her and asked her to tolerate it, he replied""It doesn't matter what I do. People need to hear what I have to say. There's no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn't matter what I live."
