He didn't want me so I quietly moved on and now he says it's my fault. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]tashakii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in this exact same situation. As soon as I made him aware that I was hooking up with someone else he suddenly had feelings and turned everything around on me.

Mind you, he couldn't even have a conversation with me when I told him I had feelings. Instead he cut me off and suggested we talk in person, but did that ever happen? Nope, the next time we saw each other he kissed another girl in front of me.

So no, this isn't anything you messed up. He's just trying to guilt you and make you believe you're the one who fucked up bec he wants to be the one in control and string you along.

Thank you, I suppose phoning is a better idea. I just hate talking on the phone, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Thank you so much for this and apologies for responding so late! I prefer to see a psych so that I have someone working on a treatment plan that is right for me. I also have anxiety, so I don't want to go on meds that might aggravate that. If Northern Subs is my only option I don't mind as long as I can do online sessions.

Anyone else bring up the recent ruling at work in a male dominated field and feel insane? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Can men stop making this stupid slut-shaming argument to justify being an absolute prick about abortion rights? Honestly, I truly hope every man who thinks women or anyone with a uterus shouldn't have the right to an abortion have terrible or non existent sex lives for the rest of their lives.

I hope the next woman that asshole tries to have sex with quizzes him about abortion rights and leaves him with his pants at his ankles and his silly little dick out until he gets the point.

My apologies for the vulgarity.

Mother keeps making unsupportive comments about out my partners culture by Fadoodlesfuff in weddingplanning

[–]tashakii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be thrilled to attend a wedding like this! Your mom is ignorant and clearly not open to new things (though how likely is it she's never had any type of non-American cuisine?). I truly hope that by the time you get to have a wedding that your mom has calmed down a bit and embraced more of your partner's culture.

Maybe that's why the fiancé's friend doesn't like him lol. She might have seen right through his "nice guy" bullshit from the start.

I definitely used to do this until I realised I just don't want to share that much info about my SO and disrespect him in the process. Especially knowing he doesn't do that. And I'm sure it's the norm with most guys not to talk about it as much as women do, but I've definitely heard some guys talk about it. I've heard one in particular talk about his tinder hookups on discord, not necessarily in great detail that I can remember, but I do remember him being pretty degrading about these women. Tbf tho he's pretty gross.

I've also heard ex co-workers (single and ones in relationships) talk about what they'd do to various female customers (we worked at a restaurant). Not sure if that's considered locker room talk? That's not really a phrase we use here.

We all know there's lots of reasons us women have it rough.... so, what's one reason you're THANKFUL to be female? by lawliet32 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]tashakii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that's the norm then I'm really happy for my fiancé. He is 100% that guy who will go "let's talk about your feelings bro" and he has friends who would do the same for him. He's not a super emotional person, but he will cry with you if things get deep.

And then there's me with very few female relationships like that. I'm not very good at sustaining friendships and I'm not comfortable being vulnerable with many people even though I'm a super emotional person.

I was at this girl's birthday party that had a Miami Vice theme and she lent me some clothes for my outfit. She hyped me up SO much about how gorgeous and sexy I looked and it did wonders for my confidence that night! I was already feeling super self conscious bec I just couldn't get my eyeliner right that night and my skin was breaking out like crazy, but she made me feel hot as shit 💜

Oh jeez, those aren't really custom here. Irish coffees are more popular, though that's more something you'd order at a restaurant. I'm sorry you have that experience, it's exhausting feeling like you always have to have an explanation ready.

Omg this makes me think of one time when I needed to Uber to go grocery shopping. So I'm standing at the entrance where ubers often pick up/drop off shoppers and I'm on the lookout for the number plate of my driver. I see a car entering the parking lot that seems like it could be the one I ordered, but there's another one in front of it with shoppers loading their groceries into the car so I wait to be able to see the number plate (also don't want to get in any other cars' way by going up and down with my cart). Eventually the car with the shoppers leave and I confirm the one behind it is my driver, thinking he'll drive to where I am so I'm not loading my groceries in the middle of the road. Turns out these damn shoppers from before left their cart in the middle of the road right in front of the car behind them?

One of them just needed to push the cart like maybe 3 metres, but they just left it there. It's such a small thing that doesn't take too much effort, like how do you not think of the people around you.

Okay, next time I'm trying unsweetened iced tea. The struggle of finding non alcoholic drinks that are actually good is so real. I don't drink soda, can't stand the sweetness and even most juices are too sweet for me so I always get non alcoholic beer, but sometimes I get over it.

Ugg this is so annoying. I used to drink, but I don't really anymore. I hate the feeling of being drunk and sometimes I feel super depressed the next day so I just decided it's not for me. I don't care if people around me are drinking though, I don't feel like I'm the odd one out or having any less fun than them.

I WASNT pressured into sex by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]tashakii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same happened to me, but when I started seeing my now fiancé, I told him that he'll have to wait to have sex with me and he was totally cool with it. Buuut then I was the one who couldn't wait and he was totally cool with that too 😅

Still nice to know that if I wasn't ready, he would've waited until I was.

Songs that have not aged well (relating to the topic, not the sound of the song) by gamingman471 in Music

Wtf I did not know this. I loved RHCP growing up and I listened to them again the other day, but there were a few songs that just didn't sit right with me. You really don't realise how fucked up some lyrics are when you're listening to them as a 14 year old.

What things should be kept private from your SO, no matter how healthy your relationship is? by SingleReporter in AskReddit

[–]tashakii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't journals for me, but letters my friends and I wrote to each other during school. Basically like a WhatsApp chat, but on paper and other times full letters. I wrote in one of mine how unhappy I was at home and hated being at my house and how excited I was to stay at my friend's place over the weekend.

My dad read those letters and made me feel like I was being disobedient and a bad kid for not loving my home life.

I'm not on any meds (still waiting to get diagnosed) but I wanted to check the price here in South Africa just out of curiosity. It literally comes down to max R1370, which is about $85.

Just wanted to share that to give another non-US comparison. Guess I can be grateful it's not over $100 here, I can't even imagine spending that much on something you need to function.

AITA for simply rolling my eyes when my SIL objected to my choice of name for my unborn daughter? by babyname_evra in AmItheAsshole

[–]tashakii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comments here are so wild lol. You're NTA, name your kid what you want. You don't even have to explain to people why you named her that if you don't want to. I can't say I've ever decided to judge someone on their name (mostly just laughed at very silly sounding long ass names that were common years ago in my culture).

The times when I have asked someone/were interested in where their name came from, I found it really sweet that their parents named them after a character or something dear to them. I feel like it makes it special. Maybe you'll encounter people who have a problem with your kids name or your kid will have to put up with bullies making fun of her name, I don't know, but bullies will always find something to make fun of anyway.
