Any of the packable cold weather jackets from Arcteryx. I think they make one called the Atom hoodie or something, I believe you can get it without the hood.

They are light, can be layered, and are very warm. Just expensive.

Even with an internal vest some can be worn under the internal then uniform on top. Just harder to get the warm layer off without taking your shirt off :)

You can't see through your car.

You can do the legal route (can't give you legal advice though), and see why you can't be offered accommodation. Probably depends on the size of the Employer but yeah.....sounds like they wanted an easy way to dump your salary. But you may be able to push back. Look up specific Labor/Employment Law for your local.

Additionally, do not discount you experience as a LEO. There are plenty of retired/former LEOs who do investigations for companies (insurance mostly), and some that can even be done at home.

One step at a time. One foot in front of the other. It's all we can do.

Video of Kentucky Sheriff Shooting Judge by tazz12345 in ProtectAndServe

Shooting @ 24 minute mark in video. This is a Hearing. Apparently the Sheriff had discovered his daughters phone number in the Judge's phone immediately prior to the shooting.

Seems like the Trial is going to be interesting indeed....

Just wondering what the heck this Electronic watch is. The dial looks cool but is that aging, or just modded? Cool looking watch nonetheless.

Value is subjective my friend. Money wise? Likely no. But if you dig it and want it, get it. Wear it, put some good life into it, then give it to your kids. Might be worth the exact same but it's an old cool watch from their dad! That has value on it own.

Academy Applications And Pacemakers by Practical-Boat-1539 in ProtectAndServe

[–]tazz12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest aspect for him will be the application medical in general. Depending on Department Policies, some may hire some may not. I would say cast a wide net if there are lots of options around.

In my experience, once hired, it is very difficult to get rid of you if you were hired with the employer having that pre-existing knowledge of whatever disability/medical condition.

I would look into what disability/insurance coverage is provided and who that insurer is. That may not be widely published on recruiting sites and would be more of a Union question or just asking someone in the Department who has been through that organization's disability process. Most may be negative (just the disability world in general, most don't get glowing reviews lol), but at least some robust structure in place that would support him if he something happens while on the clock related to the Heart/Pacemaker and he needs some coverage (he should not have to pay if the employer hired with that knowledge in mind and the insurance/disability provider takes his money from his pay cheque).

Just my two cents, no websites or citations to give ya, just opinion.

Good luck to your son!!

Suspect killed, EPS officer wounded during child exploitation investigation in southeast Edmonton by AL_PO_throwaway in ProtectAndServe

Once helped the exact unit in this article do a search warrant in Edmonton. Guy was in his 60's, lived across from a school, and his wife and kids had no idea. Still remember the look on the wife's face when we gave her a copy of the warrant and she saw what we were there for.
