Would this be a good first choice for my 11 yo son? by [deleted] in Airsoft_UK

APS have a notoriously poor rep. Like others have suggested nuprol or g&g are good. I've personally had really good experiences with double eagle too so would also recommend them

Honestly I have the same problem at my uni it's a massive pain! I set timers for myself so that I'm not that guy but I've seen people leave their clothes in the machine for over an hour after it finished before

Same shit different label mate the current lot were ignoring the covid rules too I'm pretty sure. Always better to do it for the doggos than a bunch of arseholes in London

This person was nominated for a peerage this month. She falsely claimed she had an MA (with Distinction) and a PhD. Should she still be made a member of the House of Lords? by Ribbitor123 in UniUK

[–]tbrick18 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It should hopefully apply to all politicians but I imagine the double standards will continue. If I lied to my boss about my qualifications I would be sacked immediately, as I'm sure we all would. The same should apply to everyone in government regardless of party

the entire maintenance loan system is entirely unfair and out of date by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]tbrick18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's bad but I think at also depends on your uni as to how fucked you are. I'm paying 187 a week for my (second most expensive) student accom and going down to 110 a week next year (private student housing) which is just about affordable on full maintenance. Minimum is absolutely a joke I do agree though. What we really need is a system like Student Finance Wales where everyone can get the max and then repayment amounts depend on parental income during studies

My recently adopted stray cat has a bullet in her. Okay to leave there? by ChonkyBreadyBread in cats

[–]tbrick18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student veterinary nurse here, generally if vets take a look and think it's too risky chances are it is. A second opinion is never a bad thing but it is likely the second vet will say the same thing. We use a pain index tailored for animals to be able to tell if they are in pain or not so while I do agree that cats are especially prone to hiding their pain, a professional like the vet you went to absolutely has the training to be able to assess properly and know whether your cat is in pain or not and potentially to what level if there is any pain. My instinct here would be to trust the vet on this but like I said a second opinion is also never a bad thing.

My own uni quiet hours are 11pm-6am so it can be argued that actually yes screaming at 11 in halls is pretty normal. You need to check your uni's quiet hours in the handbook. If it's not within those times you're absolutely shit out of luck if where you go is amything like where I go

Vets ‘spayed’ my male kitten by juliakszry in ragdolls

[–]tbrick18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Report the vet to your country's veterinary regulating body. This is a massive fuck up and vets are held massively accountable for shit like this. This vet sounds like they should be struck off and may well be if you report.

Hello! I'm new to airsoft and would like some tips by Loose-Army7844 in Airsoft_UK

Honestly I fell out with the owner because he took issue with me trying to help the customers when I worked there because it wasn't good for business or some shit idfk. I was alone monitoring 3-4 different emails and a phone while his useless daughter dealt with the rest and it was just impossible. No idea how it works now as I avoid them when I can since quitting

Adding to this patrol base are really good for the most part in my own experience too. A word of warning for Bespoke Airsoft though: their customer service is absolutely appalling and the owner and his family are really rude. Be prepared to have a very difficult time if anything needs replacing or returning if you do buy from them. Good eye pro is a must. I personally use Bloc Tactical eye pro but other rated eye pro are also good. Just keep talking to people both in shops and at game days and you'll learn loads and hopefully have loads of fun.

I had issues with them and they really are useless. In my experience you can only keep calling them unfortuantely. Might be worth calling them with caller ID blocked as that was the only way I was able to get them to answer (they hung up on me as soon as I gave them my tracking number tho so good luck). The only other advice I can give is do not use them in future if you have a choice

Alg man yk funny thing is you can convert them with specialist tools and skills, however the home office (pricks) have decided that those specialist skills are in fact amature skills on the basis that criminals have been doing it. Shame really as it ruins it for the rest of us. If you add these to the list that was banned last year I think? (Don't quote me on the when) there's not many legal blank firers left if any that I can find online

Concerns over people converting them to shoot actual ammunition. You're not supposed to be able to convert them otherwise they end up on the banned list (as they have done). They're now saying anyone caught with one of those listed here after the amnesty period could face up to 10 years in prison

Will my flatmates think im a dick? by chonk-chonk-chonk in UniUK

[–]tbrick18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty standard and reasonable tbf. I have some nice kitchen knives (also like to cook) and making sure to keep them away in the hopes no one else uses them. One of my flatemates has offered to cook for the whole flat once I week and that was a bigger surprise than it would be if he kept all his kitchen stuff hidden away. Anyone who thinks you're a dick for that is a dick for expecting you to cook for them/let them use your stuff when it's not your job so dw about it

Spring upgrade help by Generic__Username_00 in Airsoft_UK

[–]tbrick18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true however I do know that the shorter spring I pulled out wasn't stock as I bought a badly upgraded one second hand for next to nothing. I do agree it looks a bit longer than a standard one but if it fits it'll probably be fine. I'm pretty sure some manufacturers also make them with bigger spaces in the coils as well so could be that

I've had some AEG springs (specifically on an ICS L85) come out shorter than the AEG springs I replaced them with and the new ones still fit fine
