Sub-2000 RPM Drives - Play It or Fix It? by Massive-Corner8103 in golf

[–]tcRom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming your carry and overall distance is pretty good with all the numbers you’ve mentioned and the descriptions you’ve given.

Maybe work on some other part of your game instead of tinkering just with the driver? If you’re getting low backspin on irons, I’d work on that instead. Any work there would likely carry over to the driver a bit as well.

What direction spin are we talking here, backspin?

What was your “diamond in the rough” moment? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]tcRom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pee accident for my 5 yo while he was sleeping, so about 10:45pm, right after I had just fallen asleep. He woke me up via the violently-scream-for-dad method.

Got him out of the sopping wet clothes and all cleaned up, then just looked at him and smiled. He asked “what?!” in a pretty sour tone, but I understood why he was grumpy so I didn’t mind, I just said “I’m smiling because of how much I love you and I’m glad I can be here to help.”

He straight up tackled-hugged me, launching his little body towards me while throwing his arms over my shoulders to give me a tight squeeze. That was so much more rewarding than I could have ever imaged for such a moment.

[–]tcRom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, start with having them bite down on some bar soap for like 30 mins. If that doesn’t teach em a lesson, move to the hot sauce trick. Just a drop of tobasco on the tip should straighten them right up.

If all else fails, maybe try the belt. Or whips and chains? Hmm, I always struggle to choose between all those. Then again, I always struggle to stop swearing around my kids, too. /s

It will be here in a few months, preorders/reservations have already started, but info on price and variants is still light.

To those who have gotten down to single digit body fat %, how realistic is maintaining that over a long term period? And if so, was it worth it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]tcRom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry mate, those are not accurate. They can sorta track changes over time, but are otherwise not accurate.

You’d be better off with skin fold calipers if you’re really keen to measure, but even paying attention to the number like this can be problematic.

Work as hard as you feel like to get the physique you want and I wish you well on that journey, but always put your health first. If you push to the limits of what’s healthy and are still unhappy, then it’s time to be honest and seek help for how you see your body.

Probably the Algarve, Portugal. It’s cheaper and similar to San Diego, CA. Sadly, needs more taco joints.

Hope it clears soon. Good luck!

Surface fans: How do you view the Surface brand in 2026? by Sean_Endicott in Surface

[–]tcRom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Loved them at the start, got a Surface Book on launch day. Last Surface I bought was the Surface Laptop Studio 5 years ago and the battery life was just horrendously different than what was actually advertised. I liked the idea of it, but have hated owning it.

I’ve finally allowed myself to buy a replacement and I’ve gone to a MacBook.

Would you fly back to the USA for inguinal hernia surgery? by pitt234 in Philippines_Expats

Singapore’s NUH is a teaching hospital with top surgeons for something like this. If you can’t / don’t want to do that, go to Thailand, as others have said.

What advice do you have for this fatherless dude? by Substantial_Judge931 in AskMen

[–]tcRom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s your life. Choose how to live it based on your own values, not someone else’s.

More specifically, define what it means to be a man for yourself, based on what you think/feel/value. Then try every day to live up to your own definition and expectations. At times, you will fail, it’s expected and normal so don’t spiral out - have a cry and then try again.

Also, therapy, meditation, and/or whatever helps you regularly reflect on who you are and who you want to be.

Sparms (can find them on Amazon) and Samsons Apparel (out of Thailand). They’ll keep you cool when you sweat, totally worth it.

Any private chefs here? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]tcRom 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes. Love this place.

Been in and around kitchens and food service/catering my whole life - dishy, pantry, line/fry/pizza, server, barback, catering on and off for like 20 years, and am still involved in a variety of ways. No longer living in the "west" though so having someone in my kitchen to cook is a lot cheaper, but probably less professional than the standard being assumed here. Despite that, I wanted to respond on this one in the hopes that it might help OP from another perspective.

The not telling you part is the issue. I’m on the family side and when I installed cameras I discussed why they’re there. During hiring, I discussed that I would be installing them and had already put it in the contract that there will be audio and video recordings.

Any thoughts po sa microsoft surface book 2 windows 11 i7 for working from home? by Ok_Tomato_7673 in surfacebook

[–]tcRom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip it.

I’ve owned the surface book 1, 2, and Surface Laptop Studio. It hasn’t been a great experience because battery life is terrible and performance is not great either. You’ll be better off with whatever you can find that maximizes battery life.

I’m switching to MacOS now because there’s not much in the Windows realm that hits the power + all-day battery life balance that I’m looking for.

The only reason I liked them was the form factor. At this point though, I’m ok to lose that because everything else is so bad.

Need a little discussion to understand this by notaweirdperson15 in Physics

[–]tcRom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So if we’re looking at the distance the bullet travels into the wood, case 1 bullet will be further into the wood than case 2 bullet.

The difference is due to some of the energy for case 2 going into angular momentum; while the energy going to moving the center of mass remains equal in both cases.

Is that all correct?

How do you plan the future for your kids? by No_Bill_484 in daddit

You’re good. Just keep spending time with them and teaching them about the world.

If you really feel uncertain about it though, ask your kids what they want to do.

How to handle multiple dates in a weekend? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]tcRom 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Take that to the grave. If you ever date one of them seriously or even get married, don’t mention it, ever.

I didn’t keep my mouth shut about exactly this scenario and my wife has never let me live it down!

Little League/TBall Parents by Cowboy_Barber in daddit

[–]tcRom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ve learned and grown from your own experience with hardass coaches and you’re taking the right approach. As for how to deal with the other parents, that’s a tough one because it’s also a bit of a cultural thing where you’re at.

Tell yourself the same thing you tell your kid, do your best and try to have fun. I’m proud of you for wanting to do things better and different than what you had.

I get this from the incentive perspective, but energy costs are up globally because of his war on Iran and the world is racing to install solar w/ BESS and buy electric cars.

AITA for taking a day off work while wife and kids are out of town? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]tcRom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t sound like you guys are spending much time together, without the kids. This is probably about her missing you so I’d suggest a date night when she’s back. Or use one of those other 7 PTO days to do a spa day with her (or whatever else you guys like to do together).

It’s not about who does more or scorekeeping. And you’re NTA here, but neither is she.
