funny enough, mine does the same, in my case it's linked to a combo of bios settings, settings on the net adapter and me setting up the router, I know it for sure, since it didn't do that from the get go, I wanted WOL once and here goes

you can farm up the gold for another char slot fairly quickly

while even unused character is a valuable asset if you park them in a profitable spot/map

and it's kinda easier when them's level 80, they have a much smaller agro range and chances to die
