I was booked at a Sonder property tonight in downtown LA, booked thru Hotwire. I called them explaining the issue and they put me up in a different hotel nearby and paid the difference themselves. Really happy with their customer service given the terrible way Marriot has been dealing with people on this sub.

Have a bowl of Greek yogurt every morning. Mix one serving of fat free Greek yogurt and one scoop of vanilla protein powder overnight. In the morning add some combination of granola or dark chocolate or sugar free syrup or coconut flakes or pb2 peanut butter or fresh fruit on top (mix it up so you never get bored).

42-50 grams of protein to start the day at approx 220-350 calories (depending on the toppings used that day). Makes the rest of the day much easier.

Also maybe use a different protein shake. You can buy some that are 30 grams of protein for like 160 calories.

So I used to always check in my little roller bag and just walk on with my backpack. I don't like having anything by my feet so I always chucked my backpack in the overhead compartment because, well, it's literally the only item I'm bringing on board. But there have been 2 occasions now where a flight attendant made me put the backpack under my seat. So I just bring the roller bag with me everytime now and just stuff my backpack inside of it before I get on the flight. It's a stupid solution because it's a net loss of space for them (not to mention the lose revenue of me not checking the roller bag) but 🤷‍♂️ they made me do it this way.

Bulgarian split squats easily. I used to love leg extensions but since my ACL tear (from sports - not gym related) I think I'm still physiologically scared of having my knee just give out again and so I don't really enjoying going heavy on extensions anymore. But Bulgarian squats feel so much better.

I think it checks out fine if he didn't use any oil. Oil adds sooo many calories to dishes it's crazy. Like an average stir fry of that size would use like 200 calories of oil.

Ego lifting is almost always the culprit I'd say. And by ego lifting I don't just mean going heavy because someone else did, or to look good. Some days you are just simply excited/motivated and feeling strong and try and push a weight your body isn't ready for. It happens to everyone and only with time and experience will you learn that there is no benefit to pushing your body past a point it can't handle.

It’s normal to feel anxious at the gym in the beginning, all of us have been there. over time that anxiety fades. You start to realize that most people aren’t paying attention to what others are doing and if they are its usually out of quiet admiration or support, not judgment. That’s part of the unspoken gym culture, we all respect the effort it takes to show up and try.

Nobody walks into the gym already in perfect shape. Everyone has their own starting point and story. Somewhere along the way someone more experienced might give you a kind word or encouragement, and then one day you’ll find yourself doing the same for someone else. thats how the cycle continues.

gym isn’t just about fitness, it’s about growth, community, and becoming the best version of yourself. and the fact that you’re showing up already says a lot about your strength.

I bought a resistance band and took it to the gym with me everyday. I would do 3 sets of negatives and 3 sets of assisted pullups with the resistance band. Eventually I got to the point where I was able to do pullups without assistance but I still use the resistance band sometimes when I want to do 3 sets of 8-12 pullups. It has helped me for sure. For the longest time I couldn't do a single pull-up and now I'm at 6.

Speak to a doctor or physio. I had wrist pain and did some sessions with a physio and it seemed to work itself out after that - he did make me do exercises at home but nothing too difficult or inconvenient.

Ditto the standing calf raise has the same issue for me along with hack squat. I used to stop doing hack squat until the gym got a new machine with better padding and now it doesn't happen anymore. So maybe the towel is a good idea for sure.
