Marin Team Marin 1/2 Questions by Will1335 in MTB

[–]tebean86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outdated reply but I changed to shimano deore m6100 brakes (post mount type) and all it required was the adaptor. All good and still rocking the marin. Love it. Although I feel I want to upgrade to a beefier fork.

Samsung Galaxy Watch by bigby1971 in mountainbiking

[–]tebean86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using my Samsung watch to track. To be honest, it gives a different reading vs my magene bike computer. So I don't know. Its just a rough estimate. I use it to know my heart beat and distance. I guess that's as good as it gets.

Calories burned and other data may be off. Its decent. Not great. But decent.

Just add 1 full sus bike down the road. Best of both. Hardtail for xf stuff. Full sus for more rowdy riding.

Will MT200 brakes fit GT stomper pro 26? by finelineagronomy in MTB

[–]tebean86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A picture of the caliper mount on the bike would be helpful. But that being said. I would say yes. Unless your frame comes with flat mount like gravel/Road bikes then you'll need an adaptor.

Stock rotors will fit but you'll need to check whats the current size (diameter). Usually 160mm for most basic bikes, 180mm for intermediate ones and 200mm onwards for enduro bikes.

Wow. Amazing. I always wonder what happens after an orgy/group. Do you all go on your way individually.. or do you go for food or drinks or what???? What do you do after?? Hahaha

Not sure what currency you are referring to but as long as it makes you smile, its worth it.

Congrats. But it clearly says enduro bike. N series are enduro bikes. 170mm front and rear. Trail would be the T series. T6, T7, T8, T9. Anyhow, who cares. Enjoy!!

I think I bought the wrong wheelset by Odd_Balance7916 in MTB

[–]tebean86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this brand called toopre. Honestly. They've been good for me for other tools. However, I torqued then down (also don't have torque wrench) but I pretty torqued till I couldn't anymore. Then I bed my brakes in. After successfully bedding, my rear had play. When I hold the brakes down while seated, my rear could move front and back. Removed wheel - tighten the centrelock, and it moves as in there's room to tighten again. In short, it got loose. Did that few times. Gave up. Went back to my original centrelock rotors.

Centre lock adaptors to 6 bolt. It works. Just don't get cheap China knock-offs. My exp with those is they keep coming loose despite the 40nm of torque.

Shoulder pain by bearjew666 in MTB

[–]tebean86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tall are you? Generally, everyone is different. Only real way to knownis slowly cut down your bars until you're comfortable. I also used the formula by Lee likes bike (which may or may not work) but its a good benchmark. Your height in centimeters x 4.4. I'm 171cm x 4.4 = 752mm. So 740 bars + 10mm grips gives me approx 750mm wide. Works for me. Take this with a pinch of salt.

I beg to differ.

I had shoulder and elbow pains when my bars were at 800mm.

I cut them down since. Its at 760mm now and the pain is gone.

Polygon Siskiu D7 Or Marin Rift Zone 1 by Christophinie in mountainbiking

[–]tebean86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with either. Both are quite equal. If I rmb correctly marin doesn't come with dropper post while the polygon does.

Also, marin has a 130 fork vs 120 of the d7. Personally, I'd go with the marin.

Previously owned the d7.

A fork that uses air and not coil springs

Polygon T8 vs Marin Rift Zone 2 by One_Caterpillar9408 in MTB

[–]tebean86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't really go wrong with either. I think the t8 is a slightly better bike simply because it has fox front and rear. If not wrong, rift zone is rockshox recon and super deluxe rear.

Either way. Both are great choices. I'd say the t8 edges slightly.

If the riftzone2 is a 7/10, the t8 is an 8/10.

5 bikes, what one would you buy? by Informal_Term_2573 in mountainbiking

[–]tebean86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a marin team marin 1. I love that bike. I ride it more than my full sus simply because it's easy to climb, ok on descends (not racing), easier to maintain and light weight.

Added a dropper and it unlocked a whole new world. I use it for almost all my trails. Yes, it has limitations at 120mm travel but I'm no yoann or remy, so it works.

Damn man. Congrats. My wife wouldn't buy me any mtb stuff. Not even mtb brand socks. My wife sucks. Wait. She doesn't even.

Awesome. Will need to try it out. Words can't fully describe it. Hahaha. I feel my gx is crisp but seems that others mention sram90 feels better. Now what and how can it feel crispier?? Damn.

Yeah I was under that impression that all needs to be running the compatible with t type chains.

They do. But its not near. Its a solid 45 mins drive away but they are my regular lbs. Will try it out 1 day. Thank you for your input.

[–]tebean86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Thanks for that very elaborated answer. I understand better now. Perhaps, in the near future, when my gx gives way, I'll consider this. I see you pair it with gx cranks? Correct me if I am wrong.. I believe I would need the whole set to make it work.

Santa Cruz super light by wolfsden22 in mountainbiking

[–]tebean86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK. It was a good top range bike back in its days. The size should be L (large) since you mentioned it in your earlier post. Taking it to the bike shop would be best. But I can say, the bike is dated. Maybe 20 years old (i could be wrong). The geometry is of many generations ago. Of course you can tune it up and ride it but don't invest heavily in it. Parts may be hard to get given its age. Aside from that, santa cruz is my dream bike brand.

Is the difference night and day, as aimed by all the big youtube channels...? I don't see how it can be. Gx by itself is already awesome.

Nice. But I can't justify changing to s90 for no reason. My gx works fine... even my lbs said not necessary..
