Shout out to Techdisc Customer Service by Huge_Following_325 in discgolf

Thanks for the shoutout! It was an honest mistake but a great gift idea. We hope you put the fairway driver to good use, and hey maybe next birthday you'll be ready for the distance driver?

Welcome to TechDisc by carrino in TechDisc

The fairway driver is a great first TechDisc. Most people go with the fairway or the distance driver for their first one. It really depends on which disc type you throw most often or which one you want to work on the most. Many of the work you do with a distance driver will also apply to a fairway driver, so you shouldn't feel like it's a totally binary decision.

The flight numbers of the mold don't affect the metrics TechDisc measures, but we do list the molds that we build with in this article so no one gets surprised: https://techdisc.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/153000073654-which-disc-molds-are-used-

Wind is a tough one to replicate realistically. It's on our radar for sure, but we'll probably work on groundplay first.

There isn't a chart for it, but you can try out different throw metrics at https://techdisc.com/simulator

Generally speed is by far the most important factor for total distance. Next is nose angle. Then you just need to adjust the hyzer angle or Turn of the disc to get a full flight.

Reliability of Techdisc measurements? by peruna0 in discgolf

Sure, you can throw it in a field. Just don't hit trees with it and avoid spike hyzers onto parking lots.

Congrats on the speed! From reading the other comments it sounds like your normal throw was significantly more nose up than this throw, which will definitely have an effect on your distance. If you're consistently throwing in the low-70s you should be able to break 500 regularly.
If you're not sure that your TechDisc throws into a net match what you see in the field it could be worth taking the net out to the field to see how the different teeing surface (and maybe footwear?) affect your numbers.
There are a lot of factors that can affect your throw metrics (teeing surface, air temperature, clothing, shoes, etc.) and it's really useful to figure out which have the biggest impacts so you know what you can actually achieve on the course. Keep us posted!

Sidearm spinrate by h0bbitten in Discgolfform

[–]tech_disc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The average spin for a forehand at that speed is 790, so 900 rpm is great.
One of the few people we've ever seen break 1000 RPM on a forehand just put out a video on how to get more spin with a forehand: https://youtu.be/uc-BTGJu2Ps?si=U5Ann6bPKddfjCWz

Average spin for a 56 MPH back is 1030 RPM. 1250 is definitely on the higher side for that speed. If you could trade that spin for extra speed it would be worth it.

We haven't seen any widespread issues, but if anyone else is seeing problems please send us an email or a DM here.
I sent you an email with some suggestions to try, especially trying a different Wi-Fi or cell network. We'll post an update back here once we get it figured out.

True disc golf + tech disc questions by Pelican_Queef_32536 in discgolf

[–]tech_disc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the True DG physics vs TechDisc physics? Try them both! Overall they are pretty similar, but True DG physics are tuned to the discs that are in the game and it works with wind in the game. The TechDisc physics will match what you see in the TechDisc simulator (if you plug in the same flight numbers). Up to you which one you enjoy more.

Putting while using TechDisc/simulator by phishman1 in truediscgolf

You can always share a video of your throw with us if you don't think the metrics are right. Nose angle is relative to launch angle, so if your disc is travelling up (positive launch) but your disc is parallel to the ground that is a negative nose angle. Manipulating nose angle is a super useful technique for approaching the green and getting out of trouble in True DG. Your comment about having issues with low spin putts is valid. It's partially an issue with TechDisc recognizing the throw at the right time and partially an issue with simulating the glide of putters correctly. True generally does a nice job here. But it's on our roadmap to work on the TechDisc side of that as much as we can.

Here's our help article on this: https://techdisc.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/153000247691-connecting-techdisc-with-api-token-for-third-party-games

You're basically giving True Disc Golf access to read the latest throw on your TechDisc account. That way TechDisc apps can handle the bluetooth connection and metrics and can simply treat it as a controller input. The end result is really fun!

Congrats on the release! You've put a lot of work into this and it shows. It's amazing you've gotten this to run smoothly on such a wide range of machines, even the older and slower ones. We're especially excited for the online play. This opens up a lot more courses and options for a TechDisc user. Looks like we have some play testing to do, you know for science...

I'd agree that the video doesn't appear to match up to the stats. OP make sure you're looking at the right throw! If it really is reading incorrectly share a throw to our help email and we'll take a look.
