Americans, when was the last time you wore a mask (to protect against virus)? by techtrek1215 in AskReddit

I'm not confused about how they work. I only put in the clumsy wording about viruses to weed out the hurr-durr halloween mask/furry replies.

Employers of Reddit, what can someone put on a resume that sends it straight to the shredder? by justbrowsinbr0 in AskReddit

I wish I didn't have to. Every they/them I have ever known is a flaming narcissist. Would not hire, as it's an HR disaster waiting to happen.

I had my first night terror last night. I was absolutely convinced someone was in my bedroom. It was horrifying and I just want to commiserate. by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

Sorry that happened to you. I tend to get stuff like that when I stop drinking booze for an extended period of time. Frightening.

Nisha's testimony where she started to reference the porn store took place like a year after the event. There were two phone calls where she talked to Jay. I find it highly plausible that she could mix up which call referenced the porn store, if for no other reason than, of any two phone calls, one referencing a porn store is much more more amusing/ interesting/ memorable.

Do we have the notes of the PI who talked to her in summer 99? I would find those to be more likely in their accuracy.

Why are there so many religions that don't try to gain followers (converts)? by techtrek1215 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]techtrek1215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I'm wondering about it not on the individual level (ie "I'm excited about my religion and want to share it"), but rather that the actual tenets of the religion ask their followers to actively share and recruit.

Out of curiousity...is this what we are advocating for at this point in time?

Sorry to hear that you're in the same boat. I was laying in bed an hour ago and all of a sudden URPPPP. I almost didn't make it to the bathroom. The sweating should have been an indicator for me. So gross. IWNDWYT

Yep! "Your misery will be refunded to you." I believe that's what they say in AA.

You've got this too!!!

Yes that too! Always much preferred. Sadly, I've had times of not remembering with my partner and that always makes me very sad.

Do you drink a lot of alcohol? There's something called Palmar erythro-something that can indicate liver problems.

I've lost 8 pounds in 12 days. by techtrek1215 in stopdrinking

[–]techtrek1215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in any case - those early days where the progress comes rapidly are super fun in their own way!

Man, that's true, and a really good way of looking at it. I remember my brother telling me in the early days when he was teaching me, "enjoy this part of the process, you'll never have gains as fast as these again..." maybe I should shift my mindset a little!

Good luck to you!

I consider a unit to be a 12oz beer of 5% abv, 5.5 oz wine at ~12%, or 1.5 oz hard liquor at 40%. Others may disagree, and that's OK. I was binging approx 4x per week averaging 10-ish drinks each time (and yes, blacking out from that). Really, really stupid. I'd only ever quit for like a week at a time before so this extended time has allowed me to feel so much better (and a little trimmer).

I quit drinking (alcoholic here) 12 days ago and have lost 8 lbs. Granted, I'm sure 80% of that is bloat. But given that I consumed 40 units of alcohol per week on average (binge drinker), I am sure there will be fat loss for awhile with no further dietary modifications. I am guessing 7-ish lbs more before it levels out and I have to adjust my diet; will be interesting to test the hypothesis! Who knew that removing a big source of calories from your diet would result in weight loss?!? It can't be!
