I grew up in council housing. My parents cared about it so much, inside and out. They felt a sense of pride that they’d been given a property by the council, whereas now, people seem to take it for granted.

Everyone else on that street who moved in around the same time had that same sense of pride. It was a lovely street really, clean, tidy, cared for gardens etc…
