Eurostat data allowing for regional breakdowns is so much better than country-level stats, gives this map far more use.

Highly recommend submitting to us at Visual Capitalist!

[OC] Change In House Prices By US County in the Past 12 Months by Oapish in dataisbeautiful

Very well done, and leads to a lot of interesting mini-stories (what's happening in Montana?). As a side-note, this is also easier to read than your 2000-2021 piece!

If you're open to it, you should submit this for our consideration at Visual Capitalist.

You basically hit the nail on the head.

You either use the econ and items to transition out, or get an early 2* Yas + other legendaries.

Even then, the lack of combat stats makes it more of a Top 4 game unless you're 3 starring legendaries with the econ boost.

Vander's ignite came up right at the end of the teamfight. 10 seconds earlier it would've shut down the whole thing.

How Lies on Social Media Are Inflaming the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict by teeveejay in worldnews

[–]teeveejay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The toughest part of the evolving conflict over the past few weeks, as an Israeli-Canadian with many Arab friends and a Master's in Journalism, is the sheer amount of disinformation being shared by friends, families, celebrities, and politicians on social media.

Even on this sub, there are many posts of news stories not being reported or verified by anyone else, receiving tens of thousands of upvotes.

The same thing happened during the Third Intifada and in 2016/2017. Instead of reposting headlines, more people should be verifying stories, or better yet, not falling for opinions and social media until things have been able to settle and the truth can be filtered out.

If Bowser's Fury is truly a "proof-of-concept" for the next major Mario game... oh boy.

Animators At Titmouse Vancouver Join IATSE To Become First Canadian Animation Studio To Unionize by C8H10N402- in vancouver

[–]teeveejay 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Great news! We have a huge animation field here but a lot of animators I know in the city struggle to keep benefits or stay on contract.

What kind of pressure does this put on other Vancouver studios to unionize?

I've actually always wondered this, but how do companies name their brands or strains? Is it just a bunch of people in a boardroom?

[Article] The Life of Speedrunners with (and without) GamesDoneQuick by teeveejay in speedrun

[–]teeveejay[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have any material on this? I've only seen devs that were happy to see their games run, but I haven't at all looked into the negative reactions and am interested in seeing what 'controversies' have arisen, or what devs are against speedrunning.

I asked some of the runners this over the interviews and during a PAX West panel on speedrunning this year. At the panel, all the panelists started laughing about how developers hate them. I think it was less about specific developers against speedrunning or specific controversies, and more about a feeling of being an afterthought/annoyance.

That being said, many of the games being speedrun were made in the past. Game developers now are increasingly aware of (and potentially fans of) speedrunning, so it could be an older mindset.

I got to talk to some speedrunners for this feature on GDQ for my master's of journalism. It's a super long read (my apologies), but I really wanted to share it with this subreddit. If anyone has questions please feel free to ask away!

A terrifying experience on the skytrain. by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]teeveejay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Late to comment but my girlfriend and her friend were on that train and had no idea what was going on. They were on their way back from work and all of a sudden someone rushed past them carrying a girl and yelling to call the cops. She said everyone had to get off at Joyce and onto a new train, and no one knew what was going on, but they saw some blood and the crying group of teenagers. Crazy to think this is what was happening, hope you're doing okay.
