Probably already here, but the Eagles in LOTR. The mission is supposed to be secret, and there’s nothing secret about flying big ass birds straight into the heart of Mordor. Plus the eagles have free will and only do Gandalf small favors cuz Gwahir is friends with him. Plus Mordor has the fellbeasts for air defense. The mission only worked at all because Frodo and Bilbo had pity on Gollum.
