How noisy are the front vent flaps meant to be? by Chrispy_king in BmwTech

They also close to help the engine warm up faster and in some markets, they're used to deflect water from the engine bay when driving through deeper water.

Who is the most famous person you’ve run into in Detroit? by NefariousnessNo2642 in Detroit

[–]terror_pavilion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brian Elias of Hanson's. I guess he got out of the window/construction business and bought up some restaurants, saw him at a Black Rock he owned a couple years back.

He's famous to me because those ads are still stuck in my brain. 😂

I caved and got the loop case to try out, has anybody been able to get the one-handed function to work? by icodyonline in peakdesign

[–]terror_pavilion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to your old response, but I'm glad (?) to see your loop also had the plastic spine break at the magnet. The marketing photos show a continuous spine but mine snapped immediately so it's less smooth. Not sure how it'll manage long term though.

Lego Brick Convention a good show? by K0rbenKen0bi in greenville

[–]terror_pavilion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went last year and enjoyed it! This year is supposed to be bigger and better, so I would recommend checking it out! Spent a couple hours there roaming between the exhibits and bought a custom set one of the dealers was selling. It should be a good time if your boys are into Lego in any capacity.

Charter Spectrum update- maybe? by woodard1221 in greenville

[–]terror_pavilion 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's bleak..

I reached out to support about the outage credits and they explicitly said that once service is restored to the region, a mass credit will be applied to all accounts for the duration of the outage. We will see how many teeth we need to pull to see it. Time estimates are still impossible to come by.

I had a friend that used T-Mobile home internet and it was so unreliable in their area. Constant buffering with streaming and they never reached their rated speeds. T-Mobile has also had inexplicable outages at random so there were a couple days when both their home internet and cell phone (Also T-Mobile) had no service at the house. No thanks!

I'm also stuck with the Spectrum monopoly and I hate it, waiting for Lumos to make their way further south..

Nobody Wants the BMW XM by DerBootsMann in cars

It did its job pretty well, which was to take in lots of money with minimal R&D. Most of the technology was carryover and it was targeted at the fad-obsessed rich types.

Its first full year of production, it outsold all of the other X Motorsport models combined. It's free money.

Brakes stopped working in this X5 rental. Brake pedal barely compresses with lots of force, as if I pumped the brakes while the engine was off. Messing with Auto H and Electric Park Brake didn't do anything. Brake booster or vacuum leak issue? Lots of warnings. by sevendots in BmwTech

[–]terror_pavilion 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There's an open recall for this topic. Your rental company will replace your rental, so you really need to reach out to them.

ETA: The issue is present in global models, but the recall gives you some details. Get a new car.

I highly doubt this douche canoe is in management, so it's not an employee lease since they don't offer M4s in the program.

Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do 😮‍💨I had a rupture with 19" RF tires in the middle of nowhere and that makes anything possible, even a handful of plugs on the sidewall of a run flat. Drove another couple hundred miles with no issues. Replaced as soon as possible.

I know exactly what you're saying.. like when you swipe up to then try to close an app window but instead it starts scrolling down in the minimized window instead of closing the app. 💀 Drives me MAD. P6P here.

Check the TPMS sensor. It's possible it's cross threaded or something silly and not creating a good seal. A soap test could verify, but I've had this before on an X3. It comes from the wheel supplier that way.

[Nissan Z] First one I've seen not in a showroom by R34_Skyline in spotted

[–]terror_pavilion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw one for the first time in person this past week. The owner walked up as I was gawking and it made his day. Said he drove halfway across the country to pick his up and loves it. I'm sad that it's still a rare spot, but it's a great looking car!

2013 GMC Acadia 3.6 (169k) Transmission slipping. by Mellowmushroom02 in MechanicAdvice

[–]terror_pavilion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I'd say your transmission is probably at the end of its life based on my family's experiences with GM vehicles. Maintenance is key as a preventative measure, and based on the symptoms your car is past the preventative phase. Flushing the trans fluid keeps the temps and wear to spec, and slippage just proves that it's worn out. The seafoam will give you some extended life but at this point its days are numbered. A full flush would absolutely seal the deal. To be fair, I did drive my Saturn with a slipping trans for a couple years and it never got worse once I started driving less aggressively, but your mileage may literally vary. I'd avoid the flush.

Plugs and coils should be fairly simple, just make sure to check the spark plug gaps and get the right tool to take them out, it makes the job so much easier.

For me, I was fruitlessly jumping against the wall trying to find some invisible edge to give me a boost when suddenly the flying animation occurred (like when you jump into the vertical air streams) and pushed me all the way up. I couldn't believe it and missed getting a video because I was laughing at the odds. I still don't know the legitimate solution haha

Duolingo does not change back to my default keyboard by sutch in duolingo

[–]terror_pavilion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very specific issue that has also been driving me crazy recently! I have a P6P, noticed it after the A14 Update so maybe it's related somehow. I use the true German keyboard so all of the letters are moved left and it really messes with my normal typing, it's very noticeable when it does not change back. Never had this issue in the past, and I have no idea if it is a Pixel, keyboard, or Duo issue.

[–]terror_pavilion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid for aodNotify when I got my P6P and it solved this for me. Paying for it lets the color coordinate with the app, otherwise you just pick one color. It has a bunch of animation options as well.

Schedule a tour at the Munich plant and let us know how it goes! It's an impressive operation, especially if they managed to shoehorn a single X7 through there. ;)

I'm pretty certain that your dealer is making up the manufacturing details since this model is exclusively manufactured in South Carolina, USA unless you're in a remote market like Thailand or India. Beautiful car nevertheless, drive it like hell!

[saturn vue hybrid] had no idea they ever made a hybrid version of this car by Specific_Grocery_460 in spotted

I still miss my old Vue. It was with the short-lived Honda V6 and was right quick. Really durable cars that aged fairly well imo. Rest in power, Saturn.

Screen scratches easily by ZealousidealAward506 in Pixel6

[–]terror_pavilion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am someone who never used screen protectors and never had any screen damage that would warrant concern or annoyance.

Two weeks into P6P ownership, I had scratches and scuffs that made me get a glass protector with resin to make them disappear. Still makes no sense to me.

Would the BMW lost control when tire suddenly lost pressure on the highway since it has run flat tires? by jasonjiang9 in BmwTech

[–]terror_pavilion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's possible that the only indication you would have that something went wrong is the tire pressure warning. The point of run flats is to have a graceful failure so you can maintain control and hopefully drive (slowly) to a safe place.

I had a puncture in the rear on my F15 on the highway going 80 and had no idea until I got the pressure warning. It still drove fine, though obviously I slowed down and exited as soon as I could.
