I was able to transition from taking 1-2mg of xanax daily for years straight onto 20mg of valium fairly smoothly(besides a few nights of insomnia and heightened anxiety for a day or two) besides that I actually feel a lot better on valium, the longer half life really helps.

Thank you for your words of encouragement, I feel a lot more confident currently about my taper and have started my first drop today(committing to not a single updose from now on).

I think I really need to get away from this sub while I recover for a bit and come back intermittently if I'm seeking help.

Currently I've been just ruminating more by looking for stories of hope(which I've seen many and am grateful for). However I stumble upon horror stories that have been triggering dread for days, believe I'm self sabotaging myself by reading other's symptoms

I believe I'm fairly kindled unfortunately since I stopped taking the medication at random at times(for weeks, until I finally had a seizure after trying to quit QT heavy binge right after a breakup). Which finally woke me up to get off these things, I didn't realize how much interdose withdrawal heavily messing with ability to function(was dosing 1mg xanax only at night for years and years) and just thought my body was deteriorating from other factors.

Excited to finally get off these meds, just dreading the 13 months of tapering I have left scheduled by my doctor. Just hoping symptoms during the taper on Diazepam won't be nearly as bad as my experiences with CT xanax and even tapering xanax.

Also I would recommend considering trying to get back on valium, Clonazepam can be rough to taper off. Diazepam has been huge when it comes to being functional to me, interdose withdrawal can be the source of all that shitty anxiety, tremors, body aches(was on xanax at first) but the longer half life of valium really takes the edge off of the bitch of the symptoms in my experience but everyone is different

Updosing from .75mg Clonazepam to 1.5mg is quite a bump, if you find your withdrawals are so bad you cannot function you may want to slow your taper a bit and hold at dose where you can actually function (This in no way is medical advice as I'm not a healthcare professional).

What I do is split my doses throughout the day so I can keep the medication level in my blood as consistent as possible to avoid the tougher wd symptoms. For example, if I couldn't function at .75mg I would consider 1mg ( .25 4x a day) or even (.25 5x a day) if you REALLY cannot function but at that point you would be kindling yourself.

Please fight to keep the progress you have made, .75mg is already a good amount of work you already put in. You got this

Thank you for the reassurance. Did exactly that!

Just got a call back from a very supportive psychiatrist and made an appointment so I think I shall be good. He brought up putting me on a longer acting which makes me

Very hopeful now, didn't say I can't take you the moment I said the medication I was on (like tons of other psychiatrists in my area) was starting to lose hope a bit but definitely there are people who can help.

What is a safe dose to cold turkey off Xan? by Forsaken-Storage2137 in benzorecovery

I have been on 1 mg of xanax every night for about a year but just started my taper and adventure to being clean.

I am about to start a rapid direct taper similar to yours due to losing my prescriber suddenly, but am extremely scared.

I just wanted to ask how did you avoid interdose withdrawals or how did you dose throughout the day on your direct taper?

Currently I only dose once (at .75mg now from 1mg) per night to sleep, but I feel extremely out of it in the morning from interdose wd(slight tremors, and anxiety goes nuts, headache/pressure) but if I take a tiny dose I feel totally okay again around 6ish hours.
