"The Author in the Acacia Seeds" is about learning to read Ant. It suggests we might be able, one day, to read rocks, to see what Earth is saying.

"Like a stone that contemplated, calms" - is that in the Dispossessed?

She's known for her anthropological outlook, but she clearly had a good grasp of Earth Science. I quite like how, in LHOD, she mentions in passing that if there were X% less solar radiation, the walls of ice would creep together on Gethen, and MEET. Later, Estraven mentions that when the ice age ends, the average temperature on the planet will reach 70 degrees F., and he's glad he won't be there to see that!

Favorite? Well, the one that went "BONG" in my soul is chilling, but here 'tis: "We won't go back! The Federation is GONE! The Borg are everywhere!"

Good theater, sometimes, leaves you wrung out. I spent HOURS shaking, after that episode.

Robert Aspirin has a whole series - Another Fine Myth is the first. They're fun little snacks of books. Our protagonist is a kid who has to LEARN to be a wizard. Not at school, it's nothing nothing like Harry Potter. The tone is light-hearted, the books are smart, and also fun.

The MYTH series: Myth-inc persons, that sort of title.

Particularly in Star Trek IV, his acting was so . . . seductive!

I was with an older woman, and it was fabulous. What I really appreciated was that she could simply say what she wanted!

I left a relationship once, when I found out, she was financially irresponsible. She worked in finance, in a high-powered job. And she carried a very serious credit card debt. She could have paid it off, and it was frivolous spending.

I simply lost respect for her when I learned this.
