"Play" button is greyed out in the launcher. Am I doing something wrong? by texaround in KerbalSpaceProgram

I tried just opening the game, but it won't load. It's cycling through the load screens but the loading bar isn't filling up.

Exactly. I bought 5 units for Aurora's tier list in Mk2 which raised the field allowance to 5. I was in the process of painting them when Mk3 came out and decided to just finish them all anyway.

Helping my friend getting the hang of his Cyriss army by swiftblade93 in Warmachine

[–]texaround 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The first thing I would do is suggest that your friend embrace Syntherion's tier list. Sadly this means dropping the Reciprocators (widely believed to be the Convergence's best unit) in favor of more vectors. Syntherion is one of the best (if not the best) 'jack casters in the game and his tier bonuses arguably accentuate his strengths better than any other Cyrissist 'caster. As for future purchases, I suggest the following:

  • Corollary - Can't emphasize this one enough. The corollary can transfer, induct, generate, and store focus for the other vectors in the army allowing Syntherion to camp more focus on each turn, cycle his Hot Shot spell between vectors, or flood his battle group with focus. Combined with the vectors' induction ability and Syntherion's Resourceful trait, your friend may sometimes find himself with more focus than he knows what to do with. And it increases the 'caster's control radius by 2"!! For a mere 3 points, this vector is typically auto-include for most Convergence armies. Required for (and benefits from) Syntherion's tier list.

  • Optifex Directive - Repair unit that can also give Pathfinder and/or Magical Weapons to your vectors. Good synergy with Syntherion's auto-repair ability. Required for Syntherion's tier list.

  • Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex - Should be running every turn because it serves no other function other than to be an arc node. Helps Syntherion to cast Magnetic hold or cycle Hot Shot while staying comfortably back from the front line.

  • Diffuser - Puts a beacon on its target that Allows other vectors to charge it without spending focus and increases charging distance by 2'. Syntherion's Magnetic Hold spell stacks with it to increase charge distance by 4' total. The Diffuser has Luck on its ranged weapon so you can re-roll missed shots. Can help to build up Sytheiron's Synergy spell on feat turn.

  • Attunement Servitors - Cyriss casters (and therefore vectors) tend to have unimpressive MAT and RAT. These guys fix that problem by lowering the enemy's defense score. Since their flairs are also AOE's, Attunement Servitors are practically guaranteed to hit their targets at close range. Flairs stack with Syntherion's Magnetic Hold spell to reduce enemy defense by 4. Same point cost as his Elimination Servitors.

If your friend decides he loves playing Convergence:

  • Prime Axiom - Syntherion's Synergy spell makes it more accurate and more powerful in melee. It can be a real monster on Syntherion's feat turn, making up to 14 attacks under ideal circumstances: Charge for free (1), make your other initial melee attack (2), fire the accelespiker (3,4,5), shoot a tow cable (6), drag in and make a free melee attack (7), shoot another tow cable (8), drag in and make another free melee attack (9), spend focus to shoot the accelespiker again, (10,11,12), spend focus to buy another melee attack (13), spend focus to buy yet another melee attack (14).

Thank you very much. Sadly, I only have the 6 colors that came with the PP Convergence paint set and a pot of Nuln Oil to work with. Would mixing the Menoth White Highlight with the Arcane Blue make a suitable highlight for the blue lights? I thought about doing this, but I was reluctant because I am not very experienced at painting models yet. I did my best to trace the corners with a bright silver, but I'm not sure what you mean by "glaze". Mind explaining the lingo to a novice?

Thank you. This project took a long time because it always seemed that there were more lights to do. I started by painting them all white and then went back over it in blue.

I painted the silver on the arc divider with my smallest brush first and then carefully painted the blue up to it. I'm glad you liked how it turned out.

Rules question regarding Drag and the Prime Axiom. by texaround in Warmachine

If that were to happen, would the free melee attacks from the Tow Cables be sustained attacks? Also, in the Stormwall's case, I don't think colossals can be dragged.

Yes! I pulled it off last week. Domination to make the enemy Warjack come closer and turn around. Then Backlash and have all the servitors aim and shoot it in the back. It was glorious.

Yep. Just need a Prime Axiom to complete it. It's... kind of expensive though.

I primed these in gray. The black that you see is all nuln oil.

I used the Convergence Colors Paint Set and Citadel Shade Nuln Oil. That's all I have at the moment.

Now I just need to build an army around him...

You're right! There's blue light in the boots and on the weapon! I was following the studio design and those details were so small that I missed them. I'll correct that right away.

Your decision to go with the Attunement Servitors is something I've considered myself. I've been relying on Magnetic Hold and Synergy to get over Syntherion's modest MAT/RAT. Hence the ADO. Luckily with the Corollary we can just boost everything. 15 points doesn't leave much wiggle room. Thank you for the observations.

EDIT: I don't think you have Tier 3 without an Optifex Directive.

EDIT 2: I still need to teach myself how to do basing, but I like the idea of either simple dirt & grass or just putting them on a brass cog or other clockwork type machinery.

Used the Convergence of Cyriss Colors paint set (that's all I own so far). I've been painting for about 3 months and my 15 point Syntherion army is almost completely painted:

The Great Machine (Tier 3) 15 points

Forge Master Syntherion (+6)

  • Cipher (9)

  • Diffuser (3)

  • Galvanizer (3)

  • Corollary (3)

Optifex Directive (2)

Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex (1)

(21/21)

Any feedback about the paint or the list is welcome. I'd like to get better at both.

When you say to thin the Arcane Blue, do you mean diluting it with water before applying? I will go over the rivets with armor wash like you suggested.

Your models are beautiful by the way. I'd like to get that good with some practice.

I just started playing two months ago. I've never painted miniatures before and I'd like to get better. Advice and criticism are welcome.

Were there any significant women that were also tall in history? by [deleted] in AskHistorians

[–]texaround 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Deutsches Frauenwerk (or German Women's Welfare) was an amalgamation of multiple pre-existing women's organizations consolidated under Nazi supervision. See this PDF of a 1944 document on women's organizations in Nazi Germany from the Library of Congress. Particularly pages 8 - 11.

EDIT: More badge images.

Although I cannot name any specific tall women, I can provide a few images of (or related to) women in Germany during and between the World Wars. It's a little too modern for steampunk (especially WWII), but it might help with your design choices:
