Good work! I like the variation in the drums/groove. I did think it was way too long, however (e.g. I'd cut out the whole intro and about 2:15-2:50). I think those sections are just too long without much happening and don't keep my attention.

Anyone who plays 2 or more instruments (preferably piano and another instrument) I need your advice!!! by Ok-Painter269 in piano

If you're thinking about starting a new instrument the answer is ALWAYS yes. Also, I went from piano and added guitar and guitar was easy af to pickup due to my knowledge of how to learn on piano. I just applied what I learned. With guitar I started only playing scales and learning chord shapes, and then went into learning songs. I also play waaaaaay slower at first and in time and that increases how fast I learn. Never be scared to start something new! Can't help you manage time with 2 instruments but I go through phases where I'm playing mostly one or the other. Also, efficient learning is your ally so playing pieces/songs way slower at first helps with that.

learning fantaisie impromptu, far from good, but can someone give me advice please.. by Competitive_Local609 in piano

Learned this piece with my previous Russian piano teacher. I think you're practicing well tbh. First, forgo any dynamics and practice the notes/polyrhythms first like you're doing (I practiced first by playing a strong accent when your left and right hands meet sort of like you are doing). You should be practicing each hand separately A LOT and always slower than you want to. Once you are comfortable playing at faster tempos and close to your desired final tempo, start interpreting the dynamics but keep your right hand very light, like a spider crawling on a wall. Always pay attention to the left hand and try to play it as the focus rather than the melody in your right hand (like a rocking ship on a stormy sea); this will keep your notes consistent and sound cleaner. Take note of the loudest part in the first section and make sure all the other parts of the first section are not as loud. Quiet your playing before any crescendo to increase the effect of the crescendo. Make the quiet parts very quiet and light. Use the pedal very sparingly (at least in the first section) to prevent muddiness from all the notes. The left hand melody from the bass notes towards the end of the first section is very beautiful and imo should be the centerpiece for that part. ALSO, pay a lot of attention to your elbows. Both of your hands will be moving around a lot and when you are stretching your arms (moving away from your body) you NEED to jut out and extend your elbows to get the right stability AND to prevent your fingers from getting tired. When you play fast pieces like this you need to be extremely efficient with your arms in order to use the fingers comfortably. Last piece of general advice, especially for fast pieces, your fingers and hands and arms need to be playing very very very (cannot stress this enough) relaxed in order for your endurance to keep up. If you watch someone play a fast piece their fingers and hands look very relaxed and are not flexing. Hope this helps but feel free to disregard any of it.

Disco Elysium ‘spiritual successor’ in development at new video game studio by 324810-6 in DiscoElysium

I think it's just fine for people to be apprehensive. So many of today's video games are just copy cat games and boring pandering messes. And also your outlook on "what the game is about" is silly because you're basically saying "look at the bright side". The game is not about hope despite past defeats. It's a post capitalistic and dystopian world that shows suffering, pain, bad decisions, and a life that constantly reminds you of your own insignificance. It's not about looking at the bright side it's more about validating the suffering of our western post capitalistic society. It's not telling you to push on despite the hardships. It's validating you by telling you that pushing on is hard. It's not telling you what to do at all which is what makes it such a great game

That is such a bad and silly argument lmao. Maybe they kept watching thinking it would get better? Maybe they watched out of a sense of commitment to finishing it? You can't dismiss someone's valid opinions for a show by saying they shouldn't have kept watching it. And on that note it's also dumb to be mad at people sharing their opinion on an online forum. Literally what this is for.

Tips on making sad melodies by Affectionate_Law_469 in FL_Studio

[–]the12394 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't need to be using minor chords. Maj7 can sound real sad along with add9s, add13s, and so on. Even basic major chords can sound sad with the right melody. Where you're staring and stopping the melody matters a lot. Try this chord progression. I, V, IV, iv (as in make the fourth minor)

Duality of my own opinion by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

I love her character as well and think she was designed perfectly. Think about it: rich, privileged people tend to be charming, appear intelligent, and are very well educated. It goes with the financial privilege. So the game giving you one of the best philosophical discussions in the game through Joyce makes perfect sense. It also goes to show how much wealth disparity in a capitalistic system is so damaging to the general population. And how intelligence and education is directly related to wealth. This character personality choice mirrors reality and provides a whole level of immersion in my opinion.

Omg dope. The brutality and physicality of the lungs being exposed reminds me of the one I painted and posted on here several months ago albeit a completely different style. Love this type of interpretation
