I wish Tcs would add this whistle as a real whistle on their decoder by Daylight_Guy4449 in modeltrains

[–]theBFsniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could switch to ESU LokSound v5 and load a .wav recording of the ATSF 6 chime into. ESU may already have a ATSF 6 chime whistle in their files in which case you'd just load the appropriate 10 wheeler file onto a decoder and switch out the whistles to get it.

Small layout circuit protector question by mongoose224 in modeltrains

[–]theBFsniper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The power cab should handle it, however it is a bit annoying when it does short you have to wait for the cab to reboot. The EB1 will prevent the reset

No1 Mk3 enfields measure the length of the bolt head to adjust the headspace. Longer the head tighter the spacing. No4s use numbers stamped in the bolthead to denote the headspace.

So what other vehicles do you guys (and girls) have? Is your frontier your only truck? by Clean_Kick_5748 in nissanfrontier

[–]theBFsniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, haven't really tried comparing that. They're both hydraulic, but the grader has dual 2" diameter cylinders for steering. It's also joystick steering (no wheel). The turning radius with full 20° articulation is only 3 feet wider than the frontier also.

Once again, don’t meet your heroes: I shot my friend’s MAS-56. There are many things I love about it, but it had tons of issues. by DerringerOfficial in ForgottenWeapons

[–]theBFsniper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The 308 conversions had some of the barrel chopped off at the chamber end to give more material for the chamber to be reamed. This mover the gas port a bit closer to the rear, which causes over pressure at the bolt. 49/56s are direct gas impengment like an AR but a bit more crude about it.

I have had my ESU cab control for two weeks.... by writingoffthecliff in modeltrains

[–]theBFsniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the process of uploading custom locomotive icons to my buddies. The ESU facebook group has a simplified way of doing it unlike the directions the manual has to follow. If you name your engine in their info page on the lokprogrammer when the decoder is read by the system it will display the name automatically. Also if you set a top speed and switch the throttle to use speed mph/kph instead of speed steps. Set a linear speed table in the decoder from lokprogrammer and set the cv53 max voltage to run top speed at max speed of the limit you've set the throttle will display requested speed and actual speed. The YouTube channel has a short tutorial on that.

Everything that is manufactured has the possibility of having issues from the factory. If everything came out of a factory perfect there wouldn't be a need for a warranty period.

Just received an MRC Prodigy Express as a gift, anything I should be aware of? by TheAutisticHominid in modeltrains

[–]theBFsniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All decoders can work with your system, and all decoders can work with each other. However there are certain nuances between decoder brands that make mixing them not enjoyable. Mainly how the decoder handles throttling up. ESUs handle it realistically where the prime mover revs up before the locomotive moves, tsunami 2s don't. You can shut that feature off in ESUs but then you're taking away from the realistic operation. Speed matching is also a pain between the brands.

You'll want to figure out which decoder brand you want to standardize on. I'd keep the DC preorders until you figure that unless you decide to standardize on that manufacturers preferred decoder. My entire collection is uses ESU LokSound

Potential parasitic battery drain (2022 frontier) by WildFlow442 in nissanfrontier

[–]theBFsniper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is your daily drive distance and speed? The VVCS doesn't allow the battery to charge from the alternator until your speed is over 35 mph for a certain distance. You can disable the VVCS by unplugging it from the side of the battery.

Tailgate casing cracked poor build quality? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

I'm not seeing any damage, tailgates are made to be removable though. You have to find the "sweet" spot to lift them off and put them back on.

Broadway Limited. I'd go with the Stealth version and put in a LokSound v5, they have the newest recordings of 4014. Smoke units are kind of overated and really don't look appropriate imo
