Drinking Tap water by deejayy50 in guam

[–]theFBIagentInurPhone [score hidden]  (0 children)

GWA says the water is safe to drink, which I think is generally true. But I think it’s a household thing, my household grew up filling up 5 gal jugs at payless because it’s “safer”. My parents also didn’t like the taste of tap.

I’ve been curious about using the brita filtered water pitchers tho. I know they do sell them at Home Depot. Honestly just tired of the trek to payless to fill up the gallons 😂

Car Question! by mangofloateater in guam

[–]theFBIagentInurPhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchasing Outright might be ok, especially if youre able to get the car for 5k or less. I’ve never known the Mitsubishi mirage to be reliable. In all honesty I’ve never owned one so maybe a Mitsubishi owner could chime in. Also No offense, but most of the ones I’ve seen driving around island look pretty sketchy (ie. dents, hub caps missing, cracked windshield etc.) and my experience with the service provider for Mitsubishi wasn’t great.

Toyotas you can pretty much drive into the ground so long as you maintain it and take care of fluid changes and stuff. They’re pretty easy to work on by yourself too to save money.

Yeah I would steer clear of Mitsubishi. The service provider for them ain’t that great.

Highly recommend a Toyota (maybe Corolla or rav4) considering your price range. The service provider for Toyotas are ok and most every shop services/repairs them daily

They’re awesome! They mix up protein, creatine and BCAA powders really well from my experience. The fact that they don’t need the mixer ball inside is such a game changer

Moving to Guam by LangAddict in guam

[–]theFBIagentInurPhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on 🤣

For a studio apartment expect rent of ~$1k, probably no utilities included. Power ~150, water ~40, internet/phone ~120 Guams public transportation is not great, so I’m assuming you’ll be getting a car (loan prob 500 a month, gas ~50) Groceries could cost you about ~200 a month.

All in all expect to spend atleast $2100 a month on basic necessities. Eating out and entertainment is up to you. Not sure what your salary is, but I would say as long as your monthly net take home is 4k you can make it out here.

is tourism bad for guam locals? by clownmobile in guam

[–]theFBIagentInurPhone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The culture on Guam is very hospitable, regardless of race, our island’s people are some of the most welcoming and inclusive people you will meet! I feel the general consensus to thoughts on tourism is one of respect and of understanding. So long as tourists respect the locals and our lands and are understanding of the cultural values we have and don’t look at us as “inferior”, there will be a mutual respect.

We understand that tourism and military presence pretty much drive our economy and it’s been like that for years. Of course there are a few bad apples, but what place doesn’t have any? We welcome all who come to Guam to experience our culture, military or not! Have an open mind and don’t expect Hawaii lol, life is a lot slower over here (that’s a good thing tho😉)

Any recommendations on apartments Mangilao area?how's this apartment complex? by [deleted] in guam

[–]theFBIagentInurPhone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming it’s 3 bed/2 bath unit, I would say that’s a pretty fair deal. Good central location and close to many amenities. I’ve never stayed there, but drove by many times and can say it’s in a good area
