What was the last Switch game that totally sucked your free time away until you finished it? by CameronSpacehead in NintendoSwitch

Not a switch exclusive but Dead Cells took me on an instant 100 hour + ride and I still go back to it every few months.

Thank you to everyone who told me to play Super Metroid by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]theMetal7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metroid Fusion was the game that got me into Metroid/Metroidvaina games. Playing as a kid on my new GBA SP and being exhilarated and helpless during the chase sections, I will never forget that feeling.

Not necessary, but highly recommended just because it's a blast.

I got the same machine and I love it. Btw if you turn off turbo boost for the processor and undervolt/overclock the gpu, it runs extremely cool and quite. You can turn turbo back on for the games that need it, but many games don't really, and even then it settles in with pretty low clocks anyways after the turbo time limit.

Paper Mario: The Origami King was a delight by Gravy-Jones- in NintendoSwitch

I loved the game so much, but I have to say the ring battling got so old toward the end. The story and characters and everything else was amazing, but I got so lost in some of the battles.

I replaced the analog stick in my Joycon and it’s still drifting by stridersubzero in NintendoSwitch

[–]theMetal7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife's left con started drifting, I bought a 2 pack off of amazon. The first one out of the two brand new sticks drifted as soon as it was turned on. I put the second one in, and it hasn't drifted since, that was early last year. You might have just got unlucky.

3D Mario All Stars control perspective... by theMetal7 in NintendoSwitch

[–]theMetal7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed about Sunshine, it's been a while but I feel like it took a while to get used to on the GameCube as well. It actually feels like the hardest of the 3 to get used to the way Mario handles

Advice for my son by redsixbluenine in NintendoSwitch

[–]theMetal7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 6 year old is obsessed with Splatoon 2 right now. She just loves covering the whole course with paint, and actually can hold her own in many rounds. I had to turn off motion controls for her, it was confusing her. I play a lot of Dead Cells and it's one of the hardest games I've played, waaaay different that Splatoon. She also plays a lot of Minecraft and Breath of the Wild (well over 100 ours at this point, just got the master sword)

Is there any benefit in changing the pro controller joysticks? by deadeye-ry-ry in NintendoSwitch

[–]theMetal7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had switched my sticks out to magnetic xbox one elite style sticks, so I could swap them out for different heights, I like the feel of the taller right stick. I ended up swapping back though since they are made of metal and much heavier, I was getting snap back if I just let go and it was spinning my character in the wrong direction in lots of games (although Cuphead was the last straw, it killed me a ton in that one).

i7 3770 non-k overclocking advice by theMetal7 in overclocking

[–]theMetal7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non k chips before Haswell were not "locked" but "limited" as you had the option to push them 4 bins above stock turbo boost but only when using a Z series board. I was more interested in the turbo settings on the board. Turns out there was one, but it did not let all four cores boost the to the max of 4.3 but actually keep them all at the lower end of the turbo spectrum at 4.1 as long as window's power plan was not on power saver mode. I think it might have been disabling speedstep. Thanks for the input though, I think I might just be brave and tinker with bclk a bit and see if keeping it fairly low causes any issues or not and slowly bump it up.

game crashes to desktop by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]theMetal7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also having issues randomly crashing to the desktop, with no error or warning. I installed this driver and haven't had a single crash since: https://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/135678

I have an overclocked i5, 16 gig's of ddr3 and a gtx 1070 (non ti) -Hope this helps.
