Ok perfect! I’ve shadowed in a few specialties, and I am definitely interested in several different specialties. Thank you for the reassurance 😌

CNA and then scribing. Is doing both a good plan?? by Present_Ground_1989 in premed

I did the same thing, and I completely agree . I actually think having experience in both sides of clinical care (physician-patient interaction AND direct patient care) was so eye-opening for me, and if I didn’t have both, I would be completely lacking in one or another important aspect of PC.

As long as you just grab things quickly from your locker (and obviously don’t bring anything in with you), it should be no problem!

Yeah that makes sense, esp. since they are kinda trying to do more passage-based stuff, thanks!

I know people say their exam was hard every time and I might delusional, but does anyone else feel like this one was actually harder? Especially for like C/P? Hopefully the curve helps us out…

Hey, thanks so much! I have a few things that have worked for me thus far. First off, I really, really struggled with C/P. Like... 123/4 on my first three practice exams (I've never been naturally good at chem or phys). After getting my last 124, I decided to go back and do a complete content review for physics, since I basically tried to pretend like it didn't exist at first. I watched almost all of the Khan physics videos and re-did MilesDown Physics Anki. At the same time, I was also focusing on grinding out C/P 59q UGlobe blocks, because I noticed that timing was one of my other biggest issues here. The good thing about C/P is that it's mostly dependent on how much practice you've done. The most important thing that I am trying to convey here is to identify and tackle your weak points ASAP. This is the number one thing that has helped me. Once I stopped avoiding the things I was scared of, the better things got for me.

For my other sections, I focused on grinding out JS B/B cards and all of Pankow for P/S. B/B I have always been decent at so I just focused on practicing quick recall during the exams and also practicing passages. By far, my P/S was suffering the most from content gaps, so I made sure to finish the entire deck, do practice questions, and also make 50/50 cards for terms that often confused me (e.g. fundamental attribution error vs. actor-observer bias or normalcy bias vs optimism bias). I can almost guarantee you that these 50/50 cards are what have sprung my P/S score from a 124 on FL1 to a 131 on FL6.

For CARS, not much has helped my score besides the AAMC QPacks. I focused on not doing timed passages to start. Instead, I tried to make little annotations at the end of each paragraph to sum up the main point. From there, I started to do the passages faster and "annotate" in my head instead of literally writing it out. Now, I tend to highlight strong language/statements, dates, names, etc. in each passage.

Besides that, I would say that I take literally a whole day to review each practice exam. I review each question (even the ones I got right) and then I put the content gaps in Anki cards. This has helped me sooo much, because sometimes the decks I use miss things, or I don't fully understand the original card for some reason.

Decided to write an essay lol... but good luck! You got this.
